I (and maybe a few others) would be interested if:
-- you got that 'fact' from the Telegraph, and
-- whether such facts feature in any article the Telegraph publishes on economic growth, and whether, for instance, they report that the UK's Q1 growth is the highest in the G7?

I say this as someone who thinks that Labour's stress on achieving growth was a hostage to fortune in a low growth environment, and who thinks that growth rates will be low in Qs2-4. But we shall see.
It's funny, Labour were accused by the media, of talking the economy down when they took power, now there is potentially some good news, what do the media do, talk the econcomy down!

Damned if you don't, damned if you do springs to mind...

Exclusive: Technology secretary Peter Kyle had 28 meetings with people in or close to tech sector in six months. Less than 5 meetings a month.

Do you understand what his job is ? There is a clue in that headline
Next you'll be telling me that the Foreign Secretary had loads of meetings with foreign Governments, the Chancellor often meets with financial sector leaders and the transport secretary is frequently seen in the company of people who work in the railway industry.

Oh dear Peter...
Minister meets important people,
in Shock Horror Probe.
Time for a fact check. Asylum seekers are not generally eligible for council housing. There are a few extreme circumstances, such as domestic violence, where exceptions are made.

Councils tend to have local connection criteria for any applicant - this has been the case for years - which means even UK citizens can’t just apply anywhere they want.

You are wasting your breath with carlzeiss. In the last 10 years all he posts on NSC are links to stories about non-whites doing bad things, and right wingers catastrophizing about it. Usually without comment. When there is comment, it's pathetic.

I agree - was merely posting a link to the article, which isn't newsworthy at all. The oh dear Peter was tongue-in-cheek!

Oh, I know. But I didn’t want to let that subtle lie slip through without correcting it for the benefit of anyone reading it.

Yeah this is a weird one. Not entirely newsworthy that a bloke who's job is to talk to tech firms is, y'know, talking to tech firms.

The article I guess is questioning the necessity of meeting with the big boys over the little boys and there's some validity in the question but good grief it's not worthy of being the headline story.

The usual childish tory shit-stirring bollocks.
There are some Labour misjudgments that could easily be 'attacked',
but instead they continue to fill a skip with kitchen sinks, stand back and say "look at that Labour!"

More good news from this Labour Government who really are starting to impress me and maybe at last a party i can feel a connection too, the PM is exploring sending failed asylum seekers abroad to return zones…

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8re55z8kv7o

Makes you wonder why the previous government didn’t think of this!

Best prime minister in a life-time. Possibly the best of all time.

Please, please, electorate, can we keep him for another term 🙏

Was it? Even more pathetic!
Have they gone full "my brother" who, during peak Johnson suggested he would rather vote tory,
because "Starmer is a tory who has betrayed labour".
I find it hard to keep down with the idiots.
No compromise with the electorate!

The serious answer, of course, is that this is way less than what the last government proposed. The previous government explored sending ALL asylum seekers to Rwanda with no prospect of settlement in the UK.

It’s a dubious policy but Rwanda 2.0 this is not.

Releasing more prisoners early despite being told no more would happen....

"More than a thousand inmates will be released early to free up spaces in prisons in England and Wales, the justice secretary has announced, as the government grapples with an overcrowding crisis.

Under the move, offenders serving one to four years who are recalled to prison for breaching their licences, will be released after 28 days.

Last week, the prisons minister told the BBC there would be no more emergency releases to deal with the overcrowding crisis in prisons."

Under Blair’s Government 28,000 new prison places were created between 1997 to 2010.

Under the Tories, 500 new prison places were created.

BTW, personally I don’t think just banging up more and more people is the answer, but, like successive governments I have no idea what is.

The Tories are so hypocritical about this whole problem, they were the first to introduce early release to ease pressure on the woefully underfunded Prison Service.

Bending over backwards to ‘objectively’ critique. A silly article … smelling a Rattus that wasn’t there to be smelt. The LibDems spokesman's gossip, portrayed as common knowledge about Kyle. He’s a decent person and a good MP, he stood up to local threats and intimidation in the Corbyn era. The local LP was infiltrated by a rent a hard left mob of aggressive blokes from failed minor parties, career revolutionaries , who didn’t originate from Sussex.
