so england never used players from other countries? how about the black guys playing for england.....?

- rooney, irish descent
- owen, even IS welsh
- gary o'neil (england U21s captain), well take a guess where he's from...

neuville is swiss, agreed

klose and podolski are both german, born in what is today poland as sons of german parents. both from th gleiwitz region, where there's a large german minority. both came to germany later (podolski as a kid), and qualify for germany.

asamoah is of ghanan descent, son of a diplomat who later got german citicenship.

odonkor is half african, but born to a german mother.

and while we're at it: what nationality does the england manager have? :lolol:

Born in England. Most of them came from Commonwealth countries. We let them stay here - if your lot hadn't been so swift with the concentration camps, you might have a had few more nationalities to choose from.

yea sure, all of english descent, eh?

so if a kid of english parents is born in turkey, does that make him turkish or english?

in today's global society, races and nations mix anyway, look at amir khan for example.

just find it amusing that a country which is known for intergarting foreign nationalities in their sportsteams, point with the finger at us now...

Black players? ???

Ashley Cole, half Barbadian but London born and raised.
Campbell's parents are Jamaican but again London born and raised.
Walcott's grandparents are Barbadian, he's London born and raised.
Rooney born and raised in Liverpool.
Michael Owen is from chester which, last time I looked, was in England.

Rooney would qualify to play for Ireland under the same rules letting Hargreaves play for England; and Owen was raised in Wales to Welsh parents.

oh, forgot hargreaves... canadian..

btw, chester is classed as an english city, but as you may know, chester is also half welsh, as the border goes right through it. owen was born in the welsh part, to 2 welsh parents and lived his whole life in wales, still got a house in rhyl.
he only qualified, cos chester is seen as english...

lesson over, kids :D

no idea bout old vinnie... last thing i read about him in the papers, when he wanted to push that american through a window...

in a boing jet over the atlantic...

Ryan Wilson(Giggs). Born and bred in Manchester to an English father and a Welsh mother. Chose Wales when his Dad divorced his Mum. Bad choice if you ask me, never got to play in any World Cup Finals.

doesnt bother me, i aint welsh nor a manutd supporter...

anyway, welsh mother...

i remember giggs saying that he might never play at a big tournament, which is sad. but he also said that he is welsh, not english, and that he feels for wales. made the decision himself, and his feelings were more important to him than playing for a country he doesnt feel for.

anyway, prob a good choice by giggs... always off in the summer....:D

There used to be a ski-hire centre in Newhaven called Borowski's.

that made me laugh it did!

Thank you, Marc.

The point I was trying to make is that you can't tell everying about a person from their surname.

As it happens, the place in Newhaven where you could borrow skis was actually run by a Mr Borowski.
