I reckon they are a cert to headline Glastonbury.

Are they well known enough? They've played the sun-down slot before and perhaps headlined the Other Stage but it may cause a bit of debate if they are given a Pyramid Stage headlining slot. That said, they would do it brilliantly.

At the beginning! Funeral was their first album and it's raw freshness makes it a very different listen to the latest album, Reflektor.

All four of their albums are great but appreciate the evolution of their sound if you start with Funeral.

Well put and I totally agree. Looking at their current schedule there is a huge gap in May, June and July which is certainly set aside for the European festival circuit and touring. The UK helped break Arcade Fire, they have stated on numerous occasions hoe much they respect and are influenced by our music...they will tour here without a doubt. As an aside I have a suspicion they will headline Glastonbury.

They are in NZ / Australia in January / February for the Big Day Out, no sideshows announced as yet.....

Definitely. One of those enormously popular bands that seem to have passed others by completely for some unfathomable reason.

I notice that Arctic Monkeys are playing a couple of Finsbury Park gigs. Could Arcade Fire do this too?

I love all their albums, but the brilliance of Reflektor is increasing with every listen. It would be Album of the Year whatever the year in my opinion.

Make sure that you don't move on to Neon Bible until you've given Funeral at least a month of pretty solid listening. All their albums get better the more you hear them, and you wouldn't want to muddy the waters, so to speak.

currently Here Comes the Nighttime, Normal Person, Afterlife, Joan of Arc and It's Never Over are the stand outs for me.

Last 2 albums have reached no.1 in both the UK & USA so bigger than some previous headliners

That was my first thought with this record & I think some of that could be the work of the producer James Murphy (of LCD Soundsystem fame, you really should check them out as well.)

The earlier stuff is a more familiar indie rock template but unmistakably them.

Still loving Reflektor,but it's playing second fiddle to.....(drum roll...)..... Funeral. What a f*cking superb album!
Where was my head in 2004? In the sand,obviously?! Totally different to Reflektor,but excellent. I didn't think I would ever like a band in the same way I obsessed with certain bands of the 80s. Tunnels,Laika,Wake Up(epic) and In The Back Seat(she sounds a little like Björk,actually a lot) are the standout tracks for me. I've still got Neon Bible and the Suburbs to discover yet! Happy days

I'm looking forward to it. Been listening to a few singles and they sound decent. Nothing like getting to know a great band or tv series.
