When he came on...slotted straight into the middle....created a lot of space, played some cracking balls out to the wing ( where we didn't have a natural winger:angry:       ) but then looked to get in the box.

I seem to recall he also had a shot when Savage turned away from goal instead of having a go.

He could be the answer this year.

Thierry Henry is class in deed, was a finish yesterday :jester:

I thought Bertin was quality, won the tackles, made simple passes to feet, pointed where he wanted the ball, and looked solid

He did enough to win man of the match in his short time on the pitch - great debut:clap:

He does look as though he could have a bit of class about him I must admit, Ward had some good touches as well and played a couple of lovely balls through for Robinson and Hammond in the first half.

He looked very composed. Exciting times if him and Hammond can click in the middle. We look quite sorted in that area now. Just need to start firing up front.....

Looks very promising. I would like to see him and Frutos play together. Get Fruity running at the full backs.

Agreed.

I think M. Bertin could, with time, prove to be the most useful of our deadline day acquisitions.

On a related note, did anyone notice Dean White waving his arms about trying to attract Bertin's attention (when they wanted to bring him on), and it taking a while because Bertin was engrossed in conversation with Frutos and Bakayogo and seemed oblivious to anything else.

Totally agree Dave. From the first moment he got the ball, neatly controlled it and just played it simply to a team mate. Nothing flash but just looks like a player. Good to have some competition for places in midfield now.

Should we go 3-5-2 now?

With O'Cearuill- Butters- Lynch
Hammond- Ward- El-Abd- Bertin-Cox
Savage or Elder- Robinson

And of course Revell when fit up front.

Are we getting carried away with what was a reasonable initiation into English football. Is it that our expectation is so low that anybody looks to be an improvement but did he win more balls and look so menacing as El Abd, the answer is a resounding no.

His distribution was better then Adams but that is not what Adam is in the team for or is it.

He also went straight to his wife or girlfriend, who was prety nice, and his son or daughter. Seems to be a big family man. Good player. Good gentelman, 10 out of 10 in my books.

I thought he looked ace. He broke things up and played some really simply balls with the outside of his boot, only a few feet or so, but importantly to someone in a great position and we were on the attack immediately.

I understand he is a spoiler first, but can also play the ball exceedingly well. This could spell the end of El-Abd.

Everyone knows that the only way to speak to the French is by using explosive hand gestures.

El-abd is crap in my eyes. He is a CB that can't win tackles without hitting the player first, and can't win headers, cost us the brentford game early on in the season because of this. And he is soo slow that Guy Butters looks relatively quick compared to him.

Come on Bertin, get El-abd out of the team.

I have to agree, and if someone cannot see that this new french guy is better (even after only a short period of time) then you really need to get them eyes tested.
