I've got into the 'bad' habit of dropping off around 9PM and waking around 5AM. I have seen my doctor as I have had serious insomnia in the past. I do have sleeping tablets but I only take them if really necessary as I don't want to get hooked on them. You tend to find that it's a problem with relaxation and in fact there are exercises for that although to be honest I haven't found them too helpful. The only beneficiary is the dog as she gets long early morning walks. If in doubt see your GP.
Get some Mellotonin from the US, I always use it to control jet lag
I would'nt like to say when the last time I had a proper nights sleep was, If I can stay asleep for 2 hours with out waking up then I class that as a success.
what else do you want to do at 5 am when you when you have been asleep for 8hrs .......you make me laugh you do .....![]()
Have the same issue, shift work tends to have that effect.
I've been told
-don't watch TV or use the computer for an hour before bed
-have a warm (not hot) bath
-don't drink normal tea, coffee, anything fizzy or eat within an hour of bed, particularly not stuff like chocolate or spicy things.
-drink chamomile tea....tastes terrible IMHO but scientifically proven to have a relaxing effect
-read a book
Perversely I find that, if I lie in bed trying to keep my eyes open, I soon find they're closing & I'm nodding off half the time.
ouch...i'm more of the 11 pm nod off 3am wake up ,back to sleep , 4 am wake up which is a bastard when you are getting up at 5.30 anyway......apparently alcohol has a lot to do with it but OBVIOUSLY not for everyone.
i had my first panic attack yesterday...which was f***ing WELL NICE ...!!! fs

The thing is I'm up hours before anybody else. The dog loves me and in fact unlike me she is losing weight (the bitch !)
do the hoovering ......at least all the lazy buggers will be awake too....seriously though.......5-5.30 is normal wake up time for me. at age 46......getting rather serious now isn't it.

Over the last couple of years, I have been having trouble sleeping.
It seems to happen for one or two nights, then I'm fine for a week or two, when it happens again.
I go to bed knackered, then after an hour or two of trying to get to sleep, I give up, go back down stairs, watch telly or surf the old internet for a couple of hours, have a cup of hot milk, go back to bed and sleep like a log.
Is it an age thing?
It is getting more frequent as time goes by.
I won't see 50 again!
