An excellent performance yesterday. A very open game, in the first half we created a hatful of chances. Reid must have absolutely reeked as no Ipswich player wanted to get anywhere near him down the flank, if only the final delivery was better we could have been comfortably ahead by half time. It was great to see him get into some good positions going forward though.

Hart and Lynch were both excellent at full back. Lynch impressed in particular, good in the tackle and out of it when in posession. That could be the performance that confirms him as a first team regular.

In the middle I thought Kerry did a sterling job all hustle and bustle, he may well have found a new role for himself in this squad.

Upfront CKR and GNW caused Ipswich all sort of problems. The only negative being that on occasion we would break only to find no-one in the centre, we do need to sort this out as we could have made more of the excellent possession we had out wide. I am more and more impressed with CKR he had a couple a of storming runs in the box and a cracking strike against the bar. I think he is starting to find the balance between arrogance and confidence that will lead him to take a few more chances.

All in all a top day out, great atmosphere, and good to see some fight that many think is lacking in the team. The fat lady maybe doing her warm ups backstage, but she has yet to be invited on stage to perform. Let's hope we can keep her back there for at least one more game.

One small disappointment from yesterday in my eyes was the booing of Darren Currie.
Singing 'you should have stayed with a big club' is fair comment and good banter but booing him was wrong imo.
He was good for us in the 3 months he was here, cost nothing and gained us quarter of a million quid.

Agreed. I couldn't understand it, he wasn't looking for a move and has never said a bad word about the club.

Just far enough away from LDC
Watched the game in a hospitality box underneath the away fans. Had a different perspective as watched low down. We were with a group of Ipswich fans who thought that Brighton played controlled football and that the forwards held the ball well.

My own views are:

Henderson - Keepers these days ate told to punch rather than try to catch. The balls used today suffer more lateral movement particularly from corners. Thought he did well.

Reid - best game for ages. Got forward well and caused all sorts of problems for the Ipswich left midfield. Could have done better with his early chance

Mayo - the holding player in midfield that we have missed since xmas!

GMW - showed what we have missed all season. The ball rarely comes back off him and he looks to play others in

Hart - bit surprised to see him at full back but he doesn't let anybody down.

CKR - I thought it was a good performance by him. Looks better away from home when the pressure appears of him. Good control of the ball and was always looking for space.

Butters - welcome back. I thought he was solid - did well against haynes who Ipswich are really raving about

McShane - was a bit worried early on as the red mist appeared to set in. Another solid performance.

Carpenter - always a worry for me but couldn't fault his all round effeort yesterday

hammond - got better as game went one. was getting forward well.

Lynch - my man of the match. Good in the tackle. Good distribution and getting forward with the ball.

Gatting - came on and worked hard. Thought it was tough on Reid to go off (esp as hart had been booked). Could have done better with this shot across goal but again kept showing for the ball

Carole - all that could be asked for the short period of time he was on.

Overall - we all wanted to see some fight from this side (to give us hope for next year at least). One defeat in 6 games shows what could have been.
