I think so. But when has any club ever actually done a swap deal?So the latest (probably bollocks) rumour is some form of swap deal with Barcelona for Mitoma and Fati. Leaving aside any financial considerations, would this work for us?

His 'days' aren't that often though now. Teams double and even triple up on him, and there are very few players in the world who can cope with that. It would be a shame to lose him but he is 27 in May, he's approaching 'now or never' territory for his move to a massive club. Not many really big clubs will sign wingers when they get too close to 30.Adingra is very good, but Mitoma (on his day) is the epitome of unplayable.
Yes, you'd think so wouldn't you? However the thread I've linked to below tells you that the club's merchandising and ability to exploit commercial opportunities like that is currently ....um .... 'not quite what it should be'.We will also have to take into account Mitoma's commercial value to the Club. There's a huge following from Japan in terms of matchday tickets, shirts.......etc. It's just not transfer fees / salaries but our brand and global appeal. Mitoma will be a massive loss in this respect, far more than Fati.
Their new coach has already gone on record as saying his aunt's friend's brother is a season ticket holder at Brighton and he reckons Fati is shithouse. What's happened to wonderkid Fati to make Barcelona suddenly not want him?
Hes the highest paid 21 year old footballer in the world and he's definitely not worth anywhere near his salary !What's happened to wonderkid Fati to make Barcelona suddenly not want him?
Nothing- they are financially screwed and he’s an academy product, so the sale would be all profit. What's happened to wonderkid Fati to make Barcelona suddenly not want him?
Putting a €1B release clause into his contract isn’t going to encourage buyers.Nothing- they are financially screwed and he’s an academy product, so the sale would be all profit.
All that does is leave them in control of any transaction (and stop clubs like us dictating things). Release clauses are mandatory in Spain so it’s just ticking that box.Putting a €1B release clause into his contract isn’t going to encourage buyers.
Part of the reason teams have been able to double up on him is that he hasn’t had Pervis making those overlapping runs for a majority of the season. Players can concentrate on stopping Mitoma cause there is no other threat on that side. Get them both back on the pitch and hopefully we will get that double act in full swing again and will see the Karou of last season. His 'days' aren't that often though now. 100% this.Part of the reason teams have been able to double up on him is that he hasn’t had Pervis making those overlapping runs for a majority of the season. This indeed,... plus we need Adingra to also add threat on the right, maybe with Hinshelwood popping up on that side, we can broaden the threat.Part of the reason teams have been able to double up on him is that he hasn’t had Pervis making those overlapping runs for a majority of the season. Agreed, but doubling and tripling usually leaves space for an inform Pervis or Pedro to cause havoc. His 'days' aren't that often though now. That and sadly we must factor in the strong possibility RDZ will not be here next season because if we believe the papers it was RDZ that personally called Ansu and persuaded him to join us.The most likely scenario is that Fati goes back to Barca. In the current FFP environment, his wages and fitness record represent a huge risk. Another loan is the next most likely. PSG or someone. I'm not ruling out Saudi. I'm also not ruling out us. Though he would have to become one of the only players in history to voluntarily take a massive pay cut
If you think that Mitoma has a bigger brand and global appeal than Ansu Fati you're living in a dream world. We will also have to take into account Mitoma's commercial value to the Club. If he progresses as was expected, he would be. So I guess the feeling is he's just not that good anymore.Hes the highest paid 21 year old footballer in the world and he's definitely not worth anywhere near his salary !
