I’m old fashioned enough to somehow think it’s worse for a man to hit a woman than it is for them to hit another man. No real logic to it - simply the way I feel.

The problem with using words like assault and female in the press reports is the deliberate intention to immediately frame readers thoughts. In a nano second we’ve got this image of a big burly man punching the living daylights out of some gentle defenceless waif and it can be nothing of the sort. Assault can be effectively brushing against someone or even verbally disagreeing without even making contact which is a long way off what most readers believe as they make their judgement from a headline. Not condoning this guys behaviour, more the responses too including the sentence. Makes me wonder about CJS when other ‘crimes’ get left off with a verbal warning.

Why would they be 'reluctant' we are all equal now?? Can't have it both ways, can't wave the 'I'm a female so don't hit me' card then claim equality. For the record my upbringing was characterised by appalling domestic violence (male (pfffft) to female) and I would rather switch buy a palace ST than hit a woman.

You’ve just answered your own question. It’s not a matter of having to play the “don’t hit me card”, I’m sure that, as with you and me, an inbuilt abhorrence regarding violence against a woman is in most men.

I could of course be wrong, maybe we’ll get replies from those men who don’t see any difference between hitting a man or a woman.

Brighton fan gets 8 weeks for racism, it beggars belief, if he had knocked someone out physically at the game I doubt he would've got that long. Make the sentence fit the crime. But it's a big tick in the 'we take racism seriously' box isn't it. NSC chat liberal elite will soon be all over this......

I wasn't his first offence for racism. How many chances should he have,

Each to their own but 36 years into watching this club, the sight of grown adults goading each other with wanker and "come on then" signs never ceases to amaze. The number of fans at West Ham who seemed far more interested in opposition fans than what was happening on the pitch was mind boggling. But that's just me.

Yep noticed that too just can’t help myself when we did comeback and giving a few back but that’s me

No . But why reference a 'female steward' i thought we are all equal?

Because the steward that was assualted was female. If you think we're all equal then presumably it IS ok for man to attack a woman? Only you have said elsewhere that you don't think that's on. So it gives context to the piece in the media and the length of the ban. It's quite possible that he might also have got a three year ban if the steward he assaulted was male but, as the steward he assaulted wasn't, we'll never know.

Whats so telling about ya post is the implication that I'm into 'hurting women' again dare to disagree with the liberal elite and they resort to insults and insinuations........

What's so telling about all your posts is that you're tediously trolling NSC's supposed "liberals" again which is the only thing you do. And "thanks for the thumbs up"? From one gammon who's probably on his third beer of the evening?

Have already made my point very clear on this.

Very true and they wonder why the pendulum has swung back so quickly the other way. Brexit, Boris, Trump is the price these so called liberals are now paying. We've got a lot to thank them for really.

What her her gender go to do with it?

You raise a good point. Whilst I fully support equality, hurting females is something I really struggle with. I guess for all my modern attitude and beliefs I have a few old school foibles?

But please, carry on and explain why I’m wrong; we’d all love to hear.

Beach Seagull, can you please say “You said blah blah, please prove it” 8 times and call me a socialist hypocrite then we can all go to bed. You know it makes sense; we all have a big game ahead of us tomorrow.

There but for the grace of God etc etc.....

But the usual holier than thou modern football fans will no doubt pour their scorn on this ‘Neanderthal’. Others will recall having been on the edges of dubious behaviour many years ago and will not be so condescending, another group will be a mixture of both. They currently behave and talk like a modern football fan, whilst conveniently airbrushing their own past.

Would make a good game of who is who.

Sorry, no excuses, he’s a tit... !
