Surprised Spurs have seemingly opted for Frank.

Decent manager and all, but no experience of European football, going straight into Champions league.
That's a hell of a step up, next season.

I know Levy is taking a lot of flak for this sacking, but I wonder what Tony would have done in a parallel universe where in April 2019, Kyle Walker gets sent off, Brighton win the Cup Semi Final and subsequent Final in May.
Does he still sack CH because he doesn't believe he can get us to be a regular top 10 club?
Yes. Tony works on longer term plans and thinks about bigger pictures that wouldn't be swayed by winning a knockout competition, if relegation had only just been avoided. Look at the difference between CH and Potter – and even more so, the managers that followed. Parting company with CH signalled a deliberate shift in policy, style and approach to the Premier League and the future of the club as a whole

I love Chris Hughton and he will always be a club legend, but there is almost no way he would get the club into the top half of the table, let alone Europe. IMO, like.

Potter didn’t do much better with what was left of Hughton’s squad and the new signings he had that summer.
Midfield of Caciedo, Mac, Biss with Veltman, Cucurella and a rampant Lamptey changed his fortunes.

Sure, I don't think anyone expected things to suddenly transform in one season! My point was that Potter's (and RDZ's and Fab's) style of football was a big departure from Hughton, so it was clearly part of Bloom's longer-term vision.

Frank has a tiny bit of European experience, he twice got Brondby to Europa League but they were knocked out in the qualifiers both times.

First season (14-15) they lost 5-0 on aggregate to Club Brugge.

Next season they beat Juvenes/Dogana (San Marino) 11-0, then beat Bulgarian side Beroe Stara Zagora 1-0, before losing on away goals rules (2-2) to Cypriot side Omonia.

Perfect warm up for the Champions League.

You all moan about Hughton’s style yet it kept us up unlike the promoted sides trying to play football that go straight back down. Covid may have saved us that first season because before lockdown we were only heading one way.

Show me one example of where I've moaned about his style. On this thread of anywhere else. I'll wait...

I'm not playing tit-for-tat with different managers, I'm just comparing the different approaches and what they were able to achieve!

But, if you want me to: could Potter - or any of the others - kept the club up, or even got it promoted with those squads? Who knows? Maybe not. Hughton was a manager for that time in the club's history and then it was time to move on and move up.

A number of other clubs came back from covid and played like fried shite, it's to the club's credit (including but obviously not just Potter) that we came back and played well, rather than moaning about how awful everything was and dropping like a stone.
