The minnows are seeded together in the Nations League with the result that San Marino not only won their first ever competitive game in October 2024 but then went on to win and score 3 goals in November 2024, the first time they have ever scored more than 1 goal in a competitive match. Not saying there should be no minnows, but fewer of them.
A pre-qualifying competition with the minnows would help them learn how to win which would aid their development a lot more than the existing system.
The current system, with the odd exception, leads to terrible games of football with usually the minnows getting pumped. It’s been that way for years.
Reducing the number of qualifying games would also (in theory) allow elite players to take a break.Or maybe you think that’s not important ? I would say it is to maintain the quality of the premier league.
We don't need pre-qualifying in the World Cup.
