If I could afford it and bring in some pals I'd do it.I guess there will be some day-trippers and sponsors guests.
But equally, I know plenty of die-hard fans, including personal friends, who have seats in the 1901 Club, and that doesn't make them suddenly lesser supporters, does it? So it stands to reason that some of the people in the even-posher seats will also be long-time fans too. Some people might buy those seats as a one-off too, say for a special birthday or whatever. I know of others in the expensive seats who do it because they're less mobile, and need the extra comfort, or a warm place to sit before the match rather than hanging around a concourse, or because they can get a lift up to a lounge rather than hiking up the stairs to the WSU (for example).
All I'm saying is that there's frequently an implication that everyone who has a bit of money behind them is an insufferable dickhead, and while there are undoubtedly a great many of those in the world, it doesn't apply to everyone![]()
I'm pretty certain I made back the £185 I paid to see the Athens game from hospitality just in red wine.£379 per game !!
Do these people go for the Football or is the Football an excuse for Drinking/Eating.

No different to many others, just a more expensive way of doing it.£379 per game !!
Do these people go for the Football or is the Football an excuse for Drinking/Eating.

I hear those things are awfully loud.If I could afford it and bring in some pals I'd do it.
Especially if they throw in a monorail.
In which case, I'm OUT!I hear those things are awfully loud.
Bloody NIMBYSI hear those things are awfully loud.
I think I recognise them from Preston Park wine clubWho are that couple relaxing on the grass, not exactly the best backdrop to the picture!
I know exactly where that is, high behind the outer concourse on the east side.
You’ll be lucky, they don’t even throw in a coat railIf I could afford it and bring in some pals I'd do it.
Especially if they throw in a monorail.
It glides as softly as a cloudI hear those things are awfully loud.
I honestly don’t envisage there ever being a point in my lifetime where Monorail lyrics will not be funnyIt glides as softly as a cloud
A memorable evening - drinking pints of red wine is a favourite pastime for me at football matches, and West Ham gifted us a well needed win with Sir Glenn Murray bagging the winner in the first half. Good food, good company and we were well looked after.I've been to The Goldstone once before about six or seven years ago now. I'm not even sure it was called The Goldstone at the time.
@Deano's Right Foot won four places in a competition and kindly asked me along.
It was a genuinely very decent experience.
I remember the hostess showing us to our table, casually remarking, “Drinks are included…” then pausing for effect before adding more loudly, “…including spirits!”
As it turned out, I'm not sure we had any spirits at all, but we got through a ridiculous amount of red wine.
The food was also very good.
It's something I've always said people should consider who'd like a nice experience for a special occasion at the Amex. The Category B/C pricing isn't too bad at all, particularly if you have a similar fondness for red wine!
Tee heeI went in there the season before last. Very nice when you’re not paying.
Its just for the Tories to network and get more wealthy, isn't it? Working people's football is non league in sussex now, if we are being realistic.Don't really see the issue. It's not as though it's depriving other fans of opportunities to watch games. If people with money want to spend it on watching football in relative luxury, that's up to them, isn't it?
No different to people paying to upgrade flights, or stay in five star hotels rather than four.
Are you saying only Tories can be successful in business and choose to spend their cash on the Albion? Its just for the Tories to network and get more wealthy, isn't it? Working people's football is non league in sussex now, if we are being realistic.
Well the vast majority would have to be, wouldn't they? Are you saying only Tories can be successful in business and choose to spend their cash on the Albion?
