It surprises me that a chap in front of me arrives 5 mins after kick off with a pie then leaves 5 min before halftime to arrive 5 mins after the restart with a pie and on Saturday he left early I thought to get an early bus but no when we got to the bar he was at it eating a pie. So during a 90 minute game he had 3 pies and missed about 20 mins of the match.

Priceless

i remember people complaining to watchdog that burgers didn't appear as advertised (bullshit, who complains about presentation) there's nothing better than a hunk of meat with your pint at half time.

FWIW I rate the food I've had at the Amex in this order:

1 - Second burger
2 - First burger
3 - Veggie pie
4 - hot dog
5 - steak pie.

and I consider myself a foodie.

sadly, Notters, the hot dogs I find a disappointment. don't get me wrong it was fcuking deliciousness, but the sausage was tiny and the bun was a foot long.

...that's what she said.

I don't normally eat burgers but they had run out of chicken pies on Saturday so I thought I'd try one. It was actually quite pleasant - better than the rubbish they serve up at McDonalds and the like. I would have one again.

If you can get a pint and a pie at half-time and eat and drink it without missing any of the footy action, then you must be in a different stand to me and by the sounds of it in a totally different ground as well! Maybe you were at Selhurst!

I never see the point of that.
Why bother throwing a pint down your throat ? Chugging a pint in under 10 minutes before hurrying back seems more of an inconvenience than anything else. I prefer hanging back afterwards and having a leisurely beer or two instead.

well, we usually get there at about half 1. we have a couple of leisurely pints then, watch the early kick off. the half time pint is just something i buy to help wash the meal down. I really wolf 'em down, and without a drink, you can tell how well that goes. i hang around afterwards about half of the time, the other time i go straight out to enjoy a fag.

I'm in the East, unless you leave your seat before half-time whistle, no chance of getting a beer, let alone drinking it!
