Owen isnt world class in my eyes, can think of quite a few people that are better than him. However, anyone that would rather pick Crouch is a bit mental.
DAMANCLAY said:What has Owen done in the last 3 Seasons? Not an awful lot he was poor in Euro 04. As indifferent as Crouch is at least he looks some sort of threat whereas Owen does not.
He's a proven goalscorer at every level, his career scoring rate is about 1 in 2. That makes him world calss in my eyes.enigma said:Owen isnt world class in my eyes, can think of quite a few people that are better than him. However, anyone that would rather pick Crouch is a bit mental.

enigma said:I think Owen is very good, but not world class. I think the following, off the top of my head, are all better than him
Henry
Shevchenko
Van Nistelrooy
Rooney
Eto'o
Ronaldo (admittedly not on recent form)
Crespo
You could even make a case for others. I think if he had his pace of old, he would be world class though, I admit that.
SI 4 BHA said:Fair enough, but unfortunately I don't think any of those qualify for England! Owen is far and away the best goalscorer we have, so he has to play. Even half fit he's still mile better than Defoe/Bent etc.

Henry.........................31 goals in 76 games 0.41 per game
Shevchenko.................27 goals in 63 games 0.43 per game
Van Nistelrooy.............25 goals in 49 games 0.51 per game
Rooney......................11 goals in 29 games 0.38 per game
Eto'o.........................14 goals in 47 games 0.30 per game
Ronaldo.....................61 goals in 97 games 0.63 per game
Crespo......................28 goals in 56 games 0.5 per game
Owen........................35 goals in 75 games 0.47 per game
The facts make him at least the equal of these superstars therefore he is a World Class goalscorer.

His injury is supposedly fully healed. It'll be just the same "risk" as playing any player in any game.
The only question is his match fitness, the only way to get match fit is to play matches.
Don't see the problem myslef, give him 20 minutes at the end.
