All black XI?

Just looking at the Wigan line up and all but 2 of the starting XI are black. Has there ever been an all XI black team in Top flight ENGLISH CLUB football (so no smart arses can say Cameroon or something like that) ?

Haven't ARSENAL managed it in the Campbell/Cole/Henry/Vieira era?

Actually, thinking about it, I'm sure they have had ten outfield blacks but I can't ever remember them managing to get a coloured gent in goal.

Completely forgot about that team Arsenal had and you're right they've always had a white keeper.

yeh i think most teams would trip up with the goalkeeper as there hasn't been too many black goalkeepers playing at the highest level for some reason

Probably hasn't but it would be great to see, if someone signed that french keeper who plays for OM then they could do it quiet easily

in the 2008 cup final portsmouth started with EIGHT black players with two on the bench, it's not totally ridiculous to imagine that one more joined the 'Terrific Ten' to make up the dream team

and infact- yeh, defoe was cup tied wasn't he? so that's 11....surely they were all on the pitch at the same time at some point?

well back in the day they could easily field an all black defence (lauren, campbell, toure, cole), an all black central midfield (vieira, gilberto) and strike force (wiltord, henry)

but then their wing attack was generally ljunberg and pires, with jens in goal
