Surely Brexit is the biggest cause of this?
Brexit hasn’t helped anyone or anything in this country as far as I can tell. Completely irrelevant to the subject at hand though. But yeah, Brexit is a disaster.

the point is, the cult of brexit produced bungle, mogg, truss, kwateng, sunak, patel, braverman, gullis, lee, et al;

so brexit is even more of a disaster than you thought it was,

idealogues, eh? what can you do?

The Daily Mail, Express, The Sun etc. have been writing immigrants eating swans stories for 20 years. The Sun made an apology as far back as 2003 for suggesting Asylum Seekers had been arrested for preparing to roast a swan - which didn't actually happen. Typically their source is just 'a member of the public' who saw something, in the above case because they quoted an arrest, they got into trouble because someone was actually able to check that.

I think I may have found the Sun's 'member of the public'

There speaks a man who has never walked along the banks of the Thames and found the partial remains of a once beautiful and protected bird. But....never mind.....keep pouring bucket loads of scorn and wallow gloriously in the swirling waters of your own smugness. Hysterically funny post.

Comedy is obviously all in the timing :lolol:

What is this nonsense about eating swans? It’s just classic deflection. Just stay on topic.
Post #8 refers to Albanian drug gangs eating swans. Post #23 was a meme you chose to pick out as some leftist refusal to address the issue, however @Guinness Boy rightly asked why you would pick the meme out and not the blatant right wing propaganda in post #8 which does far more damage to legitimate debate than post #23 did and you just replied poor, and very poor.

The swan references exist because it has been a device for the vilification of immigrants for decades. Rightly ridiculed when someone supposedly brings it into a discussion as fact.

So despite this thread running away with some right wing tropes from the outset, also with the OP apologetically acknowledging it's a Daily Mail story, you go off on one about some laughable NSC leftist culture conspiracy that has done more to deflect this thread then anything else., then don't even realise what the swan references are. Nonsense indeed.

The fact that I go against the leftist culture on here doesn’t instantly make me a Tory. I can’t stand the Tories. This is what black and white NSC doesn’t get.

If one takes social issues on a sensible, case by case basis by applying common sense and fact, rather than going to what the default “position” should be as either a left winger or a right winger, then they are politically agnostic. Which is what I am.

What the left has done since Corbyn is push so hard against the middle that they either join or go further right - perhaps in “protest” that they aren’t being heard - which leads the sitting government to follow suit and think it’s what the average person wants. This is how we end up with nutters like Braverman, with the Tories attempting to appease core voters with outrageous policies.

When Starmer comes in, I am hoping upon hope that things settle down. I’m thinking a lots of Labour supporters will be very disillusioned very quickly though when the planned socialist uprising doesn’t occur.

The country needs a boring, middle ground, sane government with a clever and moderate non-reactionary leader and stable moderates in his cabinet. This is what Starmer is offering as did Blair before him. Which is why he’ll win.
wow a political soul mate! feel exactly the same. non tribal, issue by issue realism and pragmatism.

The 2 main horses both have strengths and weaknesses. There is no perfect party or one size fits all solutions.

The eating of swans is something the Daily Mail has been writing about immigrants for a decade. If I read something with such an obvious ridiculous propagandist slant, I don’t tend to skim over it and think the rest must be true though. Which appears to be what you’ve chosen to do. Weird eh?

Well if its good enough for Prince Phillip in Sussex its good enough for anyone!
