Simple question, who would you like to see start in defence on Saturday?

Personally, I'd like to see Tunnicliffe start as from what I've seen of him - he is a very good defender, works well with Elphick and a lot better than Virgo. Was really shocked to see him dropped against the Pikeys.

Virgo is captain. Thus, it is Virgo and Elphick/Tunnicliffe, whichever Slade feels merits their place.

The Elphick and Tunnicliffe defensive partnership looked good in the games they played together so I don't understand why they've been broken up.

Virgo should have had to win his place back, rather than just walk straight back into the side.

Tunnicliffe over Virgo by a long way! All played really well tonight although when Virgo gets the ball at his feet he seems to panic. Not sure about all the passing it around our back four. Seemed to get us nervous...Apart from Hoyte who seemed really confident with the ball. Bennett and Dicker were superb!

I groaned out loud last night listening to Player when Bennett won his free kick outside the box, and Johnny Cantor said "Adam Virgo is stepping up...." I had visions of the ball flying over the railway bridge behind Withdean and coming down somewhere along London Road, or nestling in the front garden of some residence on Wayland Avenue behind the away support.

Imagine my relief when the young nipper himself took it and rattled the onion bag.

Agreed. Elphick is just not reliable. We have been lacking experience at the back and Virgo will provide this in his best position in the centre. There was no messing from him in the final 15 mins. He was also shouting a lot which we have not heard for a time.

In general I would say Virgo and Tunnicliffe but Elphick did OK last niight, not as some say exceptional, so deserves to keep his place. I also think that Virgo and Elphick appear to be the best combination together.

Virgo for his experience and ability to drive us out and not just sit back and be pressured. Tunnicliffe ahead of Elphick for me though as he stays where he belongs and makes less mistakes/rash tackles. I suspect he lost his place after Yeovil because he walks somewhat languidly out of defense when greater urgency in getting up a canter might have been less inviting to their forwards to press on. Elphick does at least show urgency though sometimes lacking in focus

Virgo did well last night and is arguably our most consistent performer at centre back, Elphick had a good game last night with Virgo in which we didn't concede, Tunnicliffe has looked class the times he has played, however we haven't kept many clean sheets when he has played. (I'm not blaming him by the way its just an observation)

It's a great problem to have but I honestly don't think I could choose...
