Worthing
I groaned out loud last night listening to Player when Bennett won his free kick outside the box, and Johnny Cantor said "Adam Virgo is stepping up...." I had visions of the ball flying over the railway bridge behind Withdean and coming down somewhere along London Road, or nestling in the front garden of some residence on Wayland Avenue behind the away support.

Imagine my relief when the young nipper himself took it and rattled the onion bag.

Virgs has the touch of a rapist

Despite the fact it was up the other end of the pitch ( away supporters end ) !!!!!:lolol:

Tunny , leave Virgs on the bench so that he can replace Elf if he is having a shocker.

Tunnicliffe was more than unlucky to be dropped yesterday would be my first choice centre back. Also like to see Jake Wright given a go at centre back with him, bring a nice bit of balance

Odd that - we get our first clean sheet in a while, and some are calling for a completely different CB partnership all together. Even more bizarrely, I can't disagree either. There are some good looking options at the back, and the Wright/Tunncliffe partnership is the one I'd most like to see. So many different combinations to try, but obviously the plan is to find some consistency and get a settled back-line, so probably not the best idea to be experimenting all season long.

I dont want to see Jake Wright in the back four only as an emergency as I think that he is a liability which ever position he plays and was just a panic buy by RS at the begining of the season. I think that we have better options at both left back, obviously with Jim McNulty and centre back with Virgo,. Elphick and Tunnicliffe.

In fact I would send Wright to a div 2 club on loan for a month to get some games under his belt.

If you think Wright is a liability what is your opinion on Elphick. I wouldn't have been surprised to have seen him sent off on Tuesday. The ref only left him on the pitch because he didn't have the bottle. Elphick can be good but he is also very reckless, see his previous sending off at Withdean this season.

I'm not a great Virgo fan as I think he can also be reckless but my ideal pairing would be Virgo and Tunnicliffe.

As is Wayland Avenue, as I said:

It's hard to tell what end we're kicking into when all you've got is Player to go by. I think the Beeb are in the North Stand side, not beside A Block. It still confuses me, so I covered both ends. Anyway, Virgs could still plant a free kick at the away end and land the ball on Tongdean Lane (that's the railway or home end, in case you're still confused )

The question is, does Andrew Whing deserve a place when he's fit?

Not at the moment imho, Hoyte has done nothing wrong.

We have to stick with Virgo and Elphick, as said before they helped keep a clean sheet on Tuesday and we have to try and settle on a first choice 11.

If Forster is fit i wouldnt change a thing.

Me too. Bens Grandad sees him as a liability which can only be a recommendation in my book as he is as good a judge of a footballer as US is of a horse.

Overall, I think Tunni and Virgo willl be the long term solution. Short term, we were very good on Tues, so no changes.

Football is all about opinions and when RS leaves the next manager may have a different opinion.

Steve Coppell didnt rate Virgo and sent him out to Exeter but MM brought him back then sold him for £1.5m so who was right, just different opinions.

I do not think that Tunnicliffe was actually "dropped". He played with Wright at Orient in the previous mid-week game and was sensibly rested as all very young players have to be to prevent burn out later in the season.

Is this a serious comment? 12 games into the season and we are resting young players.

I want to see tunnicliffe playing alongside Jim Mcnulty. Theyve played together as centre halfs at Stockport, they are both positive players and very vocal. Get jimmy at left back and tunni left centre back. SOLID
