"...a credit to their club.."

I wasn't there, but I'm glad the noise our lot made was noticed.

We only took a few hundred and outsung about 10,000, bloody right they sho0uld be proud.

I would imagine the Boro comments come from the fact that a) they were relieved to squeeze through against a side two divisions below them (a bit like our reaction will be if Forest Green run us close and their fans make a racket all night) and b) becuase they live in the Premiership world, a world where they very rarely come into contact with fans of 'unfashionable' clubs who have a good away following. You only need to look at sides like Villa to see the malaise that sweeps through fans of a Premiership club when they're not flying in the league.

I'm with you on this one Dwayne (first ever I should add!)

We'll come across as mugs if we get all excited that Boro thought we supported the team well, surely we should do that everytime we play away from Withdean?

Cue abuse, but I'm right

I honestly don't understand. Our fans at Boro were magnificent. Constanly singing, very supportive of the new boy Jakey and showed the prawn sandwich munching premiership playboys what football supporting is about. Having fun whilst backing the team.
What's to be ashamed of? Why should we come across as mugs? Who gives a toss? Shouldn't we proud of the supporters who sang all night?

Sorry Barnet, you miss my point completely

I'm not having a go at the fans that were there AT ALL, having done a few midweek trips to Hull (9 men, we've only got 9 men!)/Rochdale/Hartlepool when the turnout has been relatively low but the atmosphere excellent, I know what good fun those trips are and how well the fans get behind the team

All I'm saying is that I think its a bit childish to be so excited that away fans thought we were such good supporters, and sang so much, etc, etc

Loads of classics last night the best one was sang at the boro fans

"You should play at Withdean!!" they certainly don,t deserve that staduim. I was serioulsy worried the Boro fans were dead as they were so quiet:lolol:

Talking the Boro kids who were asking who our players some even called us Cockneys!! Well after that game they will know who we are now!!

I'm not sure I agree.

Anyone who's ever been to an away match knows what our support is like outside of the hole that is Withdean. I don't think anyone's getting excited by the report from Middlesbrough.

Every time we have a big away game, we hear the same from rival fans and we get a great deal of respect because of it.

I think it's nice to get some recognition of the efforts of those who travelled and I don't think it's in the least bit patronising.

How manyfans did we take up there????

Approx 700.

Not getting excited but it is nice to be given credit by other fans

I don't remember anyone grumbling when Forest fans voted us the best 'away' fans of the league.

I got back this afternoon at 1.30 and watched the highlights in a pub in Newcastle City centre last night(Buy one pint and get one pint free!! 8 pints for £11.00 )

They showed about 40 mins of the game and our away support wasnt that big,I reckon 400 max.To be fair we were never going to beat them but it was a good day/night out and a wicked stadium with a bunch of non singing home fans,

Arrived home not long ago.

Went to St James Park this morning, spoke to some stewards who said we would have no chance of getting inside but then said "I didnt tell you this but if you go down there throught those big black gates it leads right out on to the pitch"

So we did and rather sheepishly stood taking photos at the corner while the ground staff cleaned up but then got a bit bolder and eventually we got one of the ground staff to take photos for us and we took photos of us sitting in the dugout!!!!

Passed on the tip to a couple of other Albion fans outside the ground.

Couldn't make it sadly, but all sounds a great laugh. Best away atmosphere I can remember was Millwall in the play offs in 1991 but of course that was much closer. Middlesbrough's crowd does not surprise me. They only got 18,000 for an FA Cup match against Manchester United on a Saturday, I think in 2002. Anyway, congratulations to those who went, hope you all got home safely.
