Gus will only sign a tall striker if they are good with their feet as well.

What was needed on Saturday was some more guile to unlock a very stubborn defence. Cried out for Vicente...

Yup, some creativity through the middle, as it really wasn't Buckley's day on the wing. I love him, but his final ball was woeful on Sat.

I don't think we need a big lump up front, we just missed a striker in the right place on Saturday to convert the numerous times Buckley and others got around the back. If we'd still had, for example, Chris Wood (who played very well second half at Millwall) I wager we would have won.

There was a definite element of regression to last season, too many similar 'just off' attacking players when we needed one to stand in the middle and put the ball in the net!

Ho hum, we knew we couldn't win every week. I thought the atmosphere in the stands before the start was far too relaxed (how-many-will-we-win-by) and I had a bad feeling about the game. In some ways the pressure of keeping the winning run going is off now.

1 game and we are already back to saying we need a big man upfront....

Depressing innit? Do you think it happens at Barca if they ever (god forbid) draw a game? Somehow I can't imagine it of their fans.

With CMS and Hoskins(hopefully) back to fitness soon that should be covered.

A target man gives you another option which is always a good thing.

The option to play a style of football Gus refuses to play? I would take a "target man" only if they were good with their feet as well. Murray, Berbatov, etc.

Just because you have a target man you don't need to hoof up to them all the time. It's the ability to vary the way you play that is important.

Have some of you clowns failed to learn anything in the last three years? There is about as much chance of Gus signing some huge great lump to play upfront as there is of me taking Kuszczak's place in goal.

Sad but true , but we need someone in whatever position to put some pressure on a keeper in the middle of the box.

Why the knockers on here Gus himself has said he wants target man, and with CMS out it showed how much we missed him.

We don't need a big target man.
We could do with a backup striker though. Dobbie isn't an out an out striker, and Macca and Barnes both start we havn't got much else.

But I highly suggest not losing our minds and saying Gus hasn't got the one target he needed. We are still a very good team. As shown by league position and Birmingham, who are promotion chasers, having a game plan which consisted of defend defend defend and then hope to nick it.
We will be fine.

We have signed three players to play this role: Wood, Paynter and Vokes. Those of you saying any old lump will do as a Plan B may wish to reconsider.

Absolute priority. After all, apart from the team currently top of the Premiership, the team currently top of the Championship, the World Cup winners, the EURO 2012 winners and err..............Barcelona, teams with a big target man always win.

Absolutely clueless. Did you really just put us in the same bracket as Spain, Barcelona and Chelsea or is this a very poor wind up?!

Don't think we need a big target man at all. We play on the ground. What we missed on Saturday was a clinical touch in the box and the precision of passing that Bruno brings. Buckley and Lua had off days when it came to the final ball to make use of their exceptional build up play. Dobbie needs the belief to shoot not pass on occasion. Play as we are and we are a play off side. Resort to a big central striker and we will lose the advantage we have.

The problem on Saturday and especially towards the end, for some reason we were playing like we have a 6ft3 striker. Every ball into the box was head height or above and for the Brummy defence it was a piece of piss to clear when the tallest person in the box for us was Dobbie (and the only person).

I'm not saying we NEED a big target man but for situations like Saturday it definitely would have been handy. OR we stick to our regular game with playing the ball to feet might have helped...countless similar games last season. Hopefully we can set it right against Ipswich.
