Genius. Had planned to walk to Shoreham this afternoon to visit my mate's pub. Have spent the past ten minutes pondering on whether the bus or train would be cheaper to get back, then logging onto NSC just now reminded me that Shoreham is the edge of the free travel with a match ticket area. Hurrah! Thank you Albion for subsidising my afternoon on the piss...

Except you can't use the travel voucher before 6pm for an evening kick off.

Not true. You can't use it on a bus before 6pm, but there's no (stated) earliest time on the train afaik. It's gonna take me at least two hours to walk to Shoreham anyway, plus I'm sure I can put up with having to stay in the pub for longer if need be...

To be honest they never check. Most bus drivers haven't got a clue what they are anyway and just let you on.

I wonder if that would work with any bit of paper (like Doctor Who's telepathic ID thingy). Presumably it's the confidence of the person presenting it that makes the drivers assume it must be valid for travel. Were one to present an out-of-date Munich travelcard (for example) with the same confidence, would they let you on? I feel an experiment coming on...

Numerous times i've thrown away bus savers, and used out of date ones by mistake, and have never been questioned. Same with train tickets, at Brighton station you could show them anything to get out of the gates.

I've got a travelcard from Hamburg in November so may try that later! If I get rumbled I'll just produce the travel voucher (at which point the driver will check the time :jester: ).

I used an Amsterdam tram card on a train recently by mistake and wasn't challenged although I suspect if an inspector had come round I might have had a problem I guess.

Last big game (Soton) created havoc with the P&R, not enough room for all the cars that wanted to park there. Expect chaos again
