An interesting selection of options. Of the ones presented, I voted for Eddie Murphy on account of him featuring in a number of favourite films back in the day, not least Beverly Hills Cop and 48 Hours. Shame that he has done more for the poultry industry since 1990 than Bernard Matthews.

But the first expansion of America happened 25 years after the Declaration of Independence, it's not right as the person I was replying to was saying that the War was just about that issue and nothing to do with taxes and taxation without representation.

If you are referring to the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 then you are correct. However the Treaty of Paris made no reference to the native Americans and the westward expansion of the USA and theft of native land did take place after 1783.
