I am a simple soul, if Palace win the Cup we are not getting into Europe. It really is that simple…to me

The ideal is of course is Palace being humped in the Cup and us just doing the best we can and see what happens. No recriminations from me if we don’t make Europe and unbridled joy if we do.
I suspect you are like an equivalent of my old pal Phil at work.
He and I seemed to disagree about practically everything,
then I realized we simply see different sides of the same coin.
Rather than get shirty, I arranged to have lunch with him one Friday.
And we carried on the tradition till he moved elsewhere to double his salary 4 years ago.

I think this thread might just explain why I was so so so unhappy about the Brentford game. It was clear they had a head of steam and if we could have taken a point off them (done a southampton on city) then the GD would have been a 4 goal reversal and there would be a 3 point turnaround in our favour.

Any road up - it is what it is

I think people pointing to ManUtd & Spurs as evidence of this being a poorer quality PL season is wrong.
I was simply pointing out that sure some teams have performed better than usual, but against that, others less so, meaning we can't use that as an excuse (non needed in my opinion) for not doing as well as some would have liked. Nothing to do with the overall quality of the teams and season.

I feel like a draw in Fulham Brentford would be the best result?

A point lost, knocks Fulham out of reckoning and puts our fate in our hands if we beat Liverpool.
No, Fulham beating Brentford is the best result for us.

The most fulham can get is 57, if they beat Brentford then the most they'll be able to get is 58 meaning 59 would put us above both.

It would then need Bournemouth to win both their last games(City away, Leicester at home) to match the 59. Even if they do win their last two games we'd still be in pole position as if we won our last two games we'd finish on 61.

Of course, the most important result is city beating palace. Without that al the other permutations are meaningless.

Edit: Sorry, just seen that you've essentially gone over this in subsequent posts.

Yes it won’t but enough. But we’re lucky that Liverpool and Spurs have nothing to play for and that players of the latter will be worried about not getting injured for the Jammy Crapico aka this year‘s Europa League final while Brentford have a west London derby and Wolves away isn’t easy.

Er? We play Spurs 4 days after the Europa final?

I wasn’t aiming it at you, but also just an observation - objectively I think it’s been a high quality PL season. Teams have not been treating big teams with great reverence, teams have been playing football with confidence and taking games on. The quality of football across various teams has been very good imho. It’s broken the grasp of the big sides have any kind of aura - mana city in particularly have found that really difficult to deal with.

No excuses from me, 55pts from this season with a potential for 61 is above where I thought we’d be tbh and great we’re one of those teams that has pulled off some great results.

I’m much more annoyed about the games against the bottom sides - much poorer sides than Brentford who almost every time looked utterly there for the taking.

Complete unforced errors, those ones.

Could Buonanotte's goal cost us a place in Europe?! (Taking points off Forest)

We want Chelsea to finish outside top 5 and win the Conference League, don't we?
I think it’s been confirmed now that none of the Chelsea stuff matters now in terms of where we finish.

That is indeed bollocks albeit I was the one posting links on here saying that was the case to confuse everyone. I think if that happens we get 3 Europa and no Conference league places.

Either way, there isn't a scenario whereby European football extends to 9th unless Man City get deducted 10 million points for cooking the books.

That's a very fair point. But that one game would have been a direct change that 3 games may have needed to match

This could still play in our favour. They will either still be celebrating/hangover/on the beach or they will be as down as hell.

And Spurs are terrible this season anyway.

Beat Liverpool (not impossible given their season finished weeks ago) and we must surely have a strong chance of finishing 8th.
