Bairstow has had a really good year in 2016. Added to his runs, his keeping has improved lots too.

Nice little stat from CricInfo:

10 times Bairstow has scored 50+ at No. 5 or lower in 2016. Only 2 others have managed this in a year - Mathews ('14), Chanderpaul ('02)

Simply put, the top order need to start scoring runs. The way they are playing we'll be winning zip.

India showing us what we should have done yesterday. Very disappointing. TMS saying that there was an air of victory when we won the toss. Fans and players alike forgetting there was the small matter of getting 500 runs on the board.

No need to let this thread get to page 3 though.

The most curious thing..
Were loose

Does anyone know what the England batting averages are for this tour (including in Bangladesh). Even Cook's place must be dubious if he wasn't captain and there was anyone else there who can bat (which there isn't).

It is looking like a small India 1st innings lead unless we can break this partnership.

If they keep scoring like they are against the new ball, I'd suggest it may be more than a small lead.
