Peacehaven
Peacehaven could be worth a look too, 20mins on a bus into Brighton, got the tye near for dog walking.

I just bought a 3bed semi for £205,000 STC.

Only downside I see is that there is no train station there.

I think this thread illustrates just how insane house prices have got in the south.

£180k gets you a modern 4 bed detached house in Grimsby , house prices are slowly recovering and are back to where they were in 2003.

You could try mid sussex, likes of Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath or Hassocks. Main line stations so easy transport links and you get more for your money.

Not strictly true is it?!

As I sit hear in my garden on a fine summers day looking out to sea and can barely hear the road noise from the A259!

15 minute train journey to the Amex! 2 minute walk to the South Downs, 5 minute drive to Seaford beach! Not bad for 'scummy' old Newhaven!!

Granted, the town centre is a dump and should be bulldozed but some very nice houses and areas within a couple of mile radius!

£300k would get you a nice 3/4 bed Det house/bungalow.

lets hear it for NEWHAVEN!! I totally agree with you, shame about the incinerator though, I had a nice view of the downs when I bought my house but I have to look at this now!

not upset at all, nice to have you back! but do you live in or near Medway towns?

nah, just up the road from Hawkhurst/cranbrook, we moved here about 10 years ago so our boys could goto the grammer school at Cranbrook and now we are looking to come back to sussex.

We used to live just outside Heathfield in a village called Vines cross but have decided to go abit closer to brighton this time

nice part of kent, I am from Brighton but would find it hard to move back as I find it far to busy now, Lewes is nice but very expensive house prices.

Eastbourne would be great for dog walking and also for the sea. You'd get a good house for your money in the nicer areas. Direct train to the Amex also.

Ain't that the truth. I bought a 2 bedroom first floor flat in Queens Park Road in the early 90's for £36K. Sold it about 10 years ago for £120K. Recently seen it on right move for £210K

we live in a village called sandhurst. we have the rye road in front but only fields behind, great dog walking but crap for our lad with autism. That is another reason for moving.

so far reason are :- the boy, the club, mortgage free.. need so far:- dog walking area, garden and maybe goodish views

I f you need a specialist school for your son then Uckfield may be a good bet as that is where the only primary school in east sussex with an autism unit is and one of only two places in the county with a specialist unit in the secondary school. The primary school is very good btw, we eventually managed to get our son there and it has done wonders for him.

Beware Haywards Heath. Generally overpriced because of the very good train links to London.
