Its pound for pound hardest. No need to pit them off in direct combat. Its all about the attitude and belief each animal shows in its pursuit of hardness.

Essentially big does not equal hard unless the animal backs its size up with a willingness to smash everything else for no reason other than to prove it is nails.

Eg. The Honey Badger is harder than the Giraffe, even though a Giraffe could just trample it.
