!982 a game-changer? Nah, not really. Aussie rock (and no, I don't mean just AC/DC!) was making great strides - production techniques, especially in the drums department, was moving to new levels.

Apart from that, there was some good stuff. and some (actually a hell of a lot of) utter rubbish in 1982. Same as most years really.

Gotta be honest - in 1982 I was still working my way through the fab stuff from the 60's and 70's, so most of the 80's passed me by.
With hindsight, there was some fabulous stuff during the 80's (although the vast majority was not to my taste) and my soul still resides in the previous two decades.
However, this album was a massive highlight, for me, albeit it two years on from the year in the original post, and it stands the test of time.

I’ve still got the album in fantastic condition. Well you can add me and four of my mates at the time, still in contact with two of them, they too still love music.

Yeah, I often analyse that period of music. A John Peel bio also stimulated that. I think of a couple of panaceas - 1976/77 goodbye Wakeman/Brotherhood of Man/Roussos, hello Pistols/Clash/Stranglers, then a fast moving evolution of post punk, new wave, synthwave and hi energy. So much happened in about 6 years, I think fuelled by the revolution of possibilities from Robert Moog et al. Exciting for that to be my teenage years.

Agree. Saw them live many times. Zimbo/All My Colours so atmospheric. The stand outs were a ‘Crystal Day’ and seeing them at Stratford upon Avon after a special cuppa.

I disagree. We have moved to a non chart, non-binary world. Yes, you have your Adele's etc., minted, but there are bands and artists out there who have massive bespoke followings and make fab music, tour, release on their own lable or online....what's not to love?

OK, so 3 years ago, She Past Away were playing in London, supported by Lebanon Hannover. Empty, I expected. £20 ticket? I'm balls-deep. No. Place was heaving. Most in there knew all the words (well, excpet for SPA who sing in Turkish, but even so, plenty knew).

No, there is everything and anything and enthusiastic followers and great gigs. Trust me. I'm 63. 99% of what I have listened to in the last year was released in the last year and I am all over it like a DWTCs
