1,400 was a good turn out, from a club in town/city of a far lower catchment than Brighton.

Besides, it was a massive round trip, and they were used to visiting PL stadia so no big deal to them.

The loyal 1,400 were rewarded with the defeat of an overhyped bunch of 'world class' players in the New Library.

15% is the maximum entitlement , the away club isn't forced into taking more tickets that they can sell so probably only asked for 1,400. Newcastle only asked for 2,000 when they were beaten at The Amex.

I know all that. I was replying to US who was implying that that was all Blackburn were allowed.

There are almost definitely white people in the town who aren't interested in blackburn. A simple "there are 100,000 thousand people in blackburn and a significant chunk of that population has no interest in blackburn rovers" shows there is a small audience for them locally. What value is there in your observation specifying that the non-white population are uninterested in blackburn rovers?

Because it is very clearly relevant when assessing the relative (potential) size of the fanbase of the clubs and how many fans they might be expected to take away.

I was going beyond saying simply that a "significant chunk" have no interest in Blackburn Rovers because that is a lot harder to quantify in the first place and impossible to distinguish from other clubs, such as Brighton, which is what the whole point of this was in the first place. A significant chunk of any town has no interest in football.

For eg

Brighton/Hove has a population of around 250000, of which around 5% are South Asian.

Blackburn has a population of around 100000, around 25% of which are South Asian.

If significantly less than 1% of South Asians attend football matches, then the above has a pretty large effect when considering the size of the potential fanbases.

In terms of raw population, Brighton is about 2.5 times bigger.

Taking account of the facts that very few non-whites attend matches and that Blackburn has a much larger non-white population, the "fanbase" of Brighton is over 3 times bigger. Thus, the (already) small catchment area effectively becomes even smaller.
