Reading and listerning to DK yesterday, it seems that the business plan for Falmer is set around us needing gates of 12000 each week to break even. Do you think this is a reasonable figure?

If we all bring a friend then we are home and dry. (Pun unintended)

What was our average during the last season at the Goldstone? I'm sure we were regulary getting 9000+ while way adrift at the bottom of the 3rd Div.

Not hard to think of averages above 12,000 if mid to bottom of the Championship or fighting promotion in league 1.

I think it will make a big difference if people are allowed to buy tickets at the ground on the day of the game. So we should get maybe a thousand from people just deciding on the morning of the game that they fancy getting a game in and buying a ticket at the ground.

I agree this will be the area where we make numbers. I expcet the away fans will be the same. Find out at the last minute that they can come then just turn up. Same for home fans. I think some of the bigger games we will be getting 20k+

I dont think they will be allowed to sell tickets at the game.

I believe the plan is to sell them at stations.

I don't think they will be allowed to sell them actually at the ground.
I can't remember the exact details but tickets will be available on the day but elsewhere (eg stations :D )

You'll need your tickert in advance for your free travel don't forget. The club will want as few people as possible going by car.

That is true but even at Withdean a fair few people pick up tickets at the ground.

12,000 is probably the baseline figure they need to estimate income, sell to investors etc.

If they (we) get more they will be happier bunnies:lolol:

The way I see it is thus:

When it first opens there will be a higher than average crowd (for whatever division we will be in) as its a New ground and people wanna go to it..simple!
After a few months of "wow...new ground coolness" the gates will decline slightly to the level of regular supporters plus a few tag alongs. For starters I can honestly see a complete sell-out for the first game, the Mill-Stad & Spurs "Lost Fans" will come out've the woodwork again (hence future arguments about "I supported BHA through everything why cant I get a ticket for the first home macth one someone whose never been to a game before ets one")

After the dust settles then heres my prediction based on leagues:
Conference National - 6000
League Two - 8000
League One - 10000-12000
Championship - 12000-16000
Premiership - 18000+

remembering back to the early 80's , Bamber wanted 20,000 as a break even no.
our average gate was around 16,000 at this time, and as a result our tumble down the league was started.
