Irrespective of what the club may have said in the past or may say now, it would be both impractical and unreasonable not to be able to pay on the gate. I believe it was a concession to the NIMBYs, and not written within the planning document (someone try and find it, can they?) Obviously, certain games will need to be all-ticket for, usually for security rather than demand, but Brighton v Crewe on a wet Tuesday evening in February is hardly going to set the pulse racing, and get the 80s-style 'firms' out is it?

I think it will be a policy they will drop before the gates open on day 1.

Also, getting average of 12,000 puts us in the same bracket as Reading, which, quite frankly, is embarrassing.

Its easy, just give free tickets, and we'll fill everyweek, 22000+ easy.

anyone else spotted something wrong with what i just said

Is the 12,000 full paying adults.

The club should encourage the youngsters right from the begining.

To encourage youngsters prices around £5/6 would seem reasonable and how about family deals!

I also believe a school going free each week will encourage a developing fan base.

Just mentioned during the Plymouth game that they average 12,000. Surely we gotta be better than that?

One of the problems Plymouth has is its location. The nearest clubs in their division are Southampton and Cardiff, both 150 miles away.

Brighton's nearest club is Crystal Palace - 39 miles away, followed by Millwall (52) Southampton (64) and Reading (81) but very easy - both by road and rail - to get to.

if theyre suggesting No's then its pure speculation. if theres a monetary income required and they think 12k is required then they've already set the ticket prices.

IMHO theres 2 criteria in order to get average gates up. you must be able to pay on the day easily, preferably on the gate, and there must be a decent discount for season tickets, purely becasue theres no inventive in buying one otherwise.

The largest single factor in all of it is the base price of a ticket. it needs to go down, not up if we want a busy ground every week, that, I think will pay dividends in the long term for many reasons.

Not being able to pay on the gate will make it just another Withdean. The only difference is people would know it's easier to get a ticket than before. But would still have to go through the trouble of applying for one before attending the game :shootself

Portsmouth are still in the Premiership, at least until they get relegated around Easter next year, so that is probably why they aren't quoted.

I think 12k is a reasonable expectation, there are some games that will probably sell a fair amount more than that but also a few that will get considerably less. As someone above pointed out, the attraction of Crewe at home on a wet Tuesday in February does not have the same allure as the likes of Palace, Southampton or Millwall.

You'll need your tickert in advance for your free travel don't forget. The club will want as few people as possible going by car.

Anyone know if there are planned rail discounts in this regard or does this just apply to specially laid on buses?

I'm gonna wait until the thing is nearly ready before I worry about discounts and buses and smelly trains and what averages we can attain against bloody Reading in the League Cup in August while everyone is still Austria for Euro 2008 and NIMBY terrorism.

That's about two and a half years' time.

46. The Stadium shall not be brought into use unless and until a Travel Management Plan prepared in consultation with the Travel
Management Group has been submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority.
The Travel Management Plan shall include details of:
1. Match ticket sales points;

So it's not yet decided.

There's about 20-30 conditions that all begin "stadium shall not be brought into use until X is approved by the Local Planning Authority".

I can see the NIMBYs complaining all the way through this....

I can see what you are trying to say about the Nimbys but the way I read it is it will be up to the local planning authority. Since this is Brighton and Hove City Council, I cannot see this being a problem.

I hope you're right but I seem to remember B&H council passed our original planning app with an overwhelming majority?

Think it was 11-1 or 12-1.

The NIMBYs don't get any say in the discharge of planning conditions; it is purely a matter for the Council
