amazing money. He should be given half. It's a gift from heaven!

Another great McGhee bit of business. I'd agree a £1m-ish should take care of this year's running losses, leaving a bit over for McGhee plus the Harding monies whenever the hell that arrives.

left back, central midfielder plus a winger and we'll be just fine next season. Great business indeed.

thing is...over say the past 5 years we spent maybe 250k tops on the whole squad

now in one pre season we may be spending nearly 1million+ on players.

so if we spend as wisely as we have done in the past then we should be able to really gain a good squad

VERY TRUE.....

i RECKON ONCE Harding deal goes through we will have a million to spend!!!!!!!

But we probably cant attract that sort of quality

I was struggling to work out where Virgo was going to play next season anyway. Utility players are useful but i'd rather have an out and out striker or a proven defender. Virgo is a legend but very easily replaced.

Your mad if you think any of the money will go anywhere but Falmer.

i would suggest there's very little need to spend any more on Falmer - the inquiry is over and the funding won't come from the club funds. We will need to hold a bit back to cover the inevitable losses we have playing at Withdean, but not all of it surely.

There'll be costs on a list as long as your arm long before the diggers move in.

I just hope its not too late to bring in a decent replacement. Have to say I'm gutted, even £1.5m is not enough to cusion the blow for me. :(

i think a Left Sided player or another centre half is crucial.

And then there's the obvious problem of goals!

"My life's in pieces"
From the official club site:

"This is a bittersweet moment for Mark McGhee, the board and myself," said Knight.

"While the money will enable the club to survive the coming months as we await the stadium decision, we are all very conscious that we are losing an exceptional player - in fact, two players because of his versatility.

"But the club's survival comes first and, at this price, reluctantly, we have to let Adam go to the wonderful opportunity offered him by Celtic.

"Some of the Virgo transfer money will immediately be made available to Mark for squad strengthening as a result of Adam leaving."
