Welbeck has showed I feel he is our best finisher, it’s more important we keep him and loan Connolly out who is not yet at PL standard but might be with a season in the championship.

I would have thought the right deal would be a 2-year deal but with an option for a third year.
This would given some of our promising kids the opportunity to develop in Year 1, go on loan in Year 2, then possibly return to compete for a matchday squad position in Year 3.

His performances, personality and utter quality deserve that. I’m not sure if it’s possible for the club to give him that contract with his injury record though.

2 year deal is fair to both us and DW. He's scored 6 this year even though he was obviously lacking match fitness for the first 15 games or so. Next year he could hit 10+
