Lance Armstrong ends fight against doping charges

Interesting stuff. I've nicked his list of activities that put you in the suspicious list and amended/commented a bit - • Skip the Olympics (which has much stricter drug testing) in your prime for any dubious reason and you're on the list. We know you can cheat tests at a one off event, just...

Baxter was caught out on a technical glitch - he regularly used vicks nasal spray. The us version contained pseudoephedrine which shows up on drug test as an amphetamine related stimulant (it's why meth labs use cough medicine to make crystal meth!)

Wiggins was advised against it as the uninformed would interpret changes as doping. They would fail to understand the spikes in haematocrit that are normal vs those that are suspicious.

So nice of Alan Bondue/Eric Boyer/Alain Deloeuil/Francis Van Londersele/ Bernard Quilfen to join nsc. Who knew he also had opinions on Ashley Barnes and Leo Ulloa!?

Lance Armstrong ends fight against doping charges

True. The UCI is trying to repeat festina - demonise someone as an evil cheater that isn't representative of the sport, rather than accepting a widespread problem.

Lance Armstrong ends fight against doping charges

What a load of sh#t. Anyone who's read anything about it knows that anyone who approached his equal (Hamilton/Landis) were bullied and harassed by his influence, to ensure they couldn't compete. He ensured only he had access to the best doping and he was cosy with the UCI to eliminate his...

I think he'll keep coming back to cancer as its a sure fire way to tug on the heartstrings. Expect lots of "it reminded me of when I was fighting cancer..." of "during my darkest times, fighting cancer, ...." and the like.

His one last attempt to control of the situation could be him gaining massive exposure for his confession and choosing who to destroy and when.

Exactly. No one is putting the kenyan runners who were banned for epo on the front pages.

You're right Stat. His name only rang a vague bell with me and it was only a story because he rode for US Postal for a year in 99.

Fair enough. I've administered them enough times but can understand the apprehension about doing it to yourself.

More fallout. Yates is a big name in British cycling and the team Sky setup.

I don't think anyone will make much of it though. Would have been different if it weren't for this year's tour!

Lance Armstrong ends fight against doping charges

Good points. You've t to look the Spanish public's attitude to doping to realise how tolerated it is there. In football, EPO could have massive benefits for training and recovery, likewise testosterone. On another note, heavyweight boxer David Price has said he's never been out of competition...
