Time for a bump I think.
With a new model strongly rumoured, (http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/new-google-nexus-7-release-date-and-specs-teased-by-asus-rep)
it must be worth a quick review of user experience a year after release.
Mine has been used every day, without exception and I have...
I would suggest you are trying to bite off more than you can chew. If you have managed well enough thus far without mobile data, why do you feel the pressing need to jump in with both feet now ?
Why not either buy a large format smartphone (Galaxy or similar) or just buy a Nexus 7 and see how...
Happy days, just a quick bounce to say, how much I am enjoying my new shiny gadget. Spent a tenner on a leather folding case and about 20 quid on apps, including an office suite and New Star Soccer and couldn't be happier. Very convenient size for commuting
One shiny new device in my mitts.
First up storage. Hmm not much doing with the USB port, tether to a PC no problem, stick a USB drive in and no can do. This was sort of what I expected, bit more surprised then that my portable USB charger doesn't play nice, still with a 10 hour run time, there...

My apologies I mistook a technical discussion about tablets for a game of top trumps. You are right the Ipad is the top trump and I would happily pay £200 for a shiny new one.
Really would you care to give an example of where the specs are low ? I can find no fault with the choice of processor and graphics chips and having had nothing but good experience with Asus kit, I have no concerns about quality.
