We'll need to raise quite a bit for him - he's got his new swimming pool in his northern garden to keep warm over the winter as well as his other 2-3 properties in the UK. I guess their Californian and other properties may not need so much heating though.

Because he's a lazy bugger who couldn't give a toss about his constituents or the public. But he's not so lazy as to miss out on an expenses paid freebie that brings him some money. Which is what half his career has been about.

I must say that the 1922 Committee have played a blinder here. I guess they had privately worked out the rough number The Liar would get backing him, and set the bar high enough above that to make sure he wouldn't be able to be in the members vote.

His decision has probably just about saved the Conservative Party. Don't imagine for a moment that The Liar took the decision on that basis - but purely because he didn't have the numbers.
