Just my opinion - it's a tracker against points gained at any given point, using a simplistic formula and just a general overview as to where we are. If we accept that 40pts sees us safe from relegation and 60pts sees us with a chance of Europe (given the Club we currently are) then I really...
.... but you could say that if hadn't have "messed up" in those two games, we'd have momentum, confidence and a higher league position that may have meant improved form and a better platform, but the biggest benefit would have been it would have been less fuel for the fire that was the Fab out...
"IF" being the operative word. So "if" the sides who finished above us this season all get struck down with numerous, multiple injuries and illness for the majority of next season, then the answer is obviously "YES" ;)
In the last 5 seasons, number of points needed to secure Europe:
2020-21 65pts (Spurs 62 and Arsenal 61 missed out)
2021-22 56pts
2022-23 61pts (Spurs 60 missed out)
2023-24 63pts (Newcastle with 60pts finishing 7th would have qualified but lost out to Man Utd who finished below them but...
Absolutely!
Yes probably an opportunity missed for Europe, but as with all things, you've just got to ignore the "IFs" and revel in a fantastic season. For the type of Club we are, losing players, transitioning nearly every year, it's a fantastic achievement imho....
It's a fair point, our recruitment team and FH should really adapt and consider every possibility aside from injury, like our current "back up" striker having handbags with JPVH on the training ground  I think we should have at least 4 back ups in every position just in case a player's...
When discussing football managers as "genius", there's only winner and Mark Crossley is brilliant at reciting these stories, of which there are many (Vinnie Jones and the Ghetto Blaster is another one)
I keep regarding comments along the lines of "we missed an opportunity because the EPL isn't as strong this year" etc.. Whether this is true or not, personally I think it's more competitive because traditional non Top 6 Clubs (like ourselves) have bridged the gap in respect of quality and some...
Watching (and listening!) to the Somerset stream on YT and I'm glad I'm not the only one who is struggling with their commentary!
Pro - infinitely better picture quality and production than Sussex
Con - these two muppets fawning over anything and everything Somerset do even to the extent that...
I may be doing Lewis a disservice, if indeed he's been a victim of our injury crisis and hasn't been playing at 100%, but I did some stats on another thread 3 games ago and the data ain't great when he's started, so I've updated them. Appreciate it's a team game, it's not all on one player...
The last
The last paragraph wasn't directed at you or others that are disappointed with 11th - I'd be disappointed with 11th but moving forward I'm very optimistic, it's how others react, there's a big difference between not jumping for joy and relentless nonsense posted ad infinitum by...
You can dice up the numbers any way you want to suit an agenda but at the end of the day we are not in danger of relegation this season, so for whatever reason, as long as there is a sense of optimism (obviously split on this board!) we go again next season.
Everything is relative is a great...
If people's expectations are above those of the Board, then the sentiment will be one of huge disappointment and some, based on their postings on here, may resort to self harm ;)
If people are aligned with the Board, we move on to next season with a sense of excitement :D
Are we not currently Top 10?
A lot of this comes down to interpretation - our target is to become an established Top 10 Club in the EPL - I interpret "established" to be over a number of years and that also means that some years we may not achieve Top 10, otherwise the wording should be...
Mine was a general comment not aimed at anybody in particular.
Most of the nonsense revolves around factual things, different expectations than those confirmed by the Board, assertions that we are the only team that don't pick up points against the bottom six etc...
Also there are examples of...
From a personal perspective, yes it's disappointing that we've had plenty of opportunities to gain more points and I do get the "what if". But equally there have been highs where we've got 3 points or a decent draw from bad positions against opposition we apparently shouldn't be entitled to take...
"That we haven't achieved either of the stretch means we haven't overall performed at best."
That's totally dependent on how you define what a stretch target actually is - if by not reaching it, we haven't performed at our best, then by definition we have to be at our best to attain a stretch...
