I agree. But he’s, what, 20/21 years old? First time in this league as a guaranteed starter. He’s clearly doing what his manager is asking of him.
I’m not going to criticise BV for that. I’m going to criticise the manager for not giving him better options and not adapting accordingly to the...
Nope. I totally agree.
I’ve accepted he’s going to be here for this season at least, but I struggle watching us. It’s like he has no idea what’s happening in games at times, or how to affect them positively for us.
I’ve used the word “inept” to describe him tactically on here, and I appreciate...
Who would you have passed to when all of our players were being man marked second half?
The issue isn’t Bart. The issue is that the manager didn’t recognise the need to free up space further back to give more passing options, and the players ahead of him not moving more effectively to give him...
You’re suggesting tactics or something? Maybe balance in the team?
You’ve blown my mind.
Joking aside, the system worked first half. The issue, as it often has been, is what we do when the opposition work out how to play against us, as Brentford did second half (by going man for man and...
We’ll agree to disagree. I thought he was our biggest threat for much of the first half, and was delighted with him considering how little football he’s played.
He missed chances, there’s no doubt about that. But if we pulled players off for missing chances, then none of our forwards would ever...
I didn’t boo the players, but I did boo the large groups of perfectly able people walking down the disabled line when queuing for the train to Lewes.
At one point, there was a group of 20 of them, with not a walking stick, a chair or an old person in sight.
It was all very panto.
Absolutely. The thing is, they stuck their 4 midfielders between our front 4 and everyone else and went man for man second half, so they didn’t need to press us.
But, whilst many on here with claim that’s BVs fault, it’s entirely tactical for me, and that falls on the manager. If he’d changed...
I don’t know how anyone is coming on here to judge a guy who looked our most threatening attacker for much of the game, when this was his first start of the season and he’d barely played 200 minutes before that point, with it now being December. And the guy is, what, 20?
If that’s what he...
Which is fine until FH tells him to do exactly the same thing…
We don’t have the midfield structure to maximise Steele’s ball playing ability now. So it’s irrelevant how quickly BV releases it if we can’t work it through that zone quickly enough.
So many of the issues he’s having are tactical. The reality is that the guy gets next to no support all game defensively, but is still expected to play as an inverted full back and overlap.
It amazes me how the big the double standards are on here where he and Lamptey are concerned, yet someone...
This is our style though. Been saying since the first home game of the season when Milner looked completely lost about where to position himself.
It works really well when we’re in total control of the game (first half), and less so when teams put us under any pressure or set up to break...
Apart from City I thought this was his best performance for us.
It was nice to see two positive performances from new signings tonight, with Gruda looking very promising.
I thought he was working too hard for the team, to be honest, yet looked our greatest threat for much of the first half.
We have to remember he’s not started a Prem game before tonight and it’s late December.
Expectations are too high for him considering how little football he’s played this...
I’m not picking on anyone. I thought we played relatively well, particularly first half.
I just personally thought Veltman was one of our weaker players. Part of that is his inability to progress the ball effectively down his side, but he made a few mistakes too that he was lucky they didn’t...
