Why? If our coaching and management team didn't think he was ready and/or good enough, why on earth should we? One good reason why will do ..........................
Offering a guaranteed pathway is one thing, offering a guaranteed place is another!
So, what did the club do with all the finesse of a reversing dump-truck then? They offered him a new contract in December - January time, and he refused it. So, as he's leaving, by his own choice, this summer without us getting a transfer fee for him (although I think we'll get that development...
It's hardly a like for like comparison, is it. You might as well ask why did we keep 'developing' Caicedo when we knew damn fine that he was off (probably to Chelsea) in the summer, and Mac Allister, with whom some sort of agreement was obviously made about his ultimate move to Liverpool...
Thanks for clarifying.
Yes, I'm wondering what exactly the club have done to get this grief from some people. Without knowing what the offer was, of course - but nonetheless I understand that he was offered a contract/contract extension and he refused it.
Maybe it involved a loan, and like...
Could be - but they still had to agree to it. On another thread, I know, but didn't we try to get Duffus to do this in January, he wouldn't, and that is maybe the reason he seems to be in the dog-house and not playing for the U21s?
When it was introduced, I asked if there was a way I could refuse it. I was told, no way (and no, I'm not filthy rich - I didn't get it when it was cut down to Pension Credit level, but I will again now).
OK, serious question, I'll come up with my personal serious answer (I realise others may disagree, but that won't change my answer!) Personally, I think it's too high - this country (or the government anyway) isn't awash with money.
When the payments were first introduced they were paid to...
Two out of contract loanees - Abdallah Sima and Odel Offiah have agreed contract extensions to 2026. Perhaps the club have decided to have a look at Offiah in pre-season following his successful loan? A bit surprised about Sima though - he was looking like one of those players who we buy but...
Another pre-conception about Wetherspoon's is that it is a haven of all day drinkers. Doubtless there are some, but certainly only a small minority - I popped in to my local Wetherspoon's for breakfast last week only to find the place almost empty (which it certainly usually isn't). The reason...
That's a tad harsh (and unrealistic) - should the ManU manager have 'managed' Mason Greenwood better instead of shipping him out, or Liverpool managed Suarez better rather than shipping the nippy little biter out?
(Must emphasise most strongly that I am not making or implying any misdoings by...
Well, that's a bit of a surprise. No complaints from me if that's what the club think is best. One thought though - is this perhaps a move to make sure we get a bit of a fee for him?
Yep, looks about right. I'd probably put Hinsh in rather than Wieffer if Baleba gets injured, but I'm pretty much in agreement with your pecking order and analysis. I'd prefer to bring Yalcouye to England though, if he is to go out on loan again.
Yep, sounds about right. Like most young players, he'll need to acclimatise to playing in England. Middlesborough might be a bit grim oop north, but there's lots of lovely country and beaches nearby.
This. In spite of all the players we bought last season, Baleba and Ayari is our best CM pairing. Hinshelwood will have to rely on his versatility to play other positions. Yalvouye might well one to watch, but I'd guess a season on loan in the EFL is likely to be his next step.
I think it's more a general feeling that he's going, just that. So, if that's what is going to happen, OK, shrug shoulders and get on with it. As others have said, we've had some good results without him.
Well, we've gone for a Milner or a Lallana but not for 23-24 year olds as our main targets before. And yes, I know you like to pick holes! :)
One or two examples don't disprove the generality!
