I know of two places in Shropshire. The first, Atcham, is pronounced as it looks - Atch'em.
The second is pronounced Ratch'em, but is actually spelled Rattlinghope.
Nomenclature - Jargon/terminology used in a particular science, art, etc., like (to use one of Lord B's examples) traffic management.
Can we invent words? There really should be a no'women'clature.
I've often tried to think, if I ever meet that Thatcher crone, will I merely turn my back on her, spit on her or hit her? If there's one woman on the planet that, even after all these years, justifies the last of these it's her.
