The garage round the back of our flats is being demolished to build some new Luxury Apartments For Stylish City Living, a small minority of which will be affordable, with the rest being marketed at a price beyond the dreams of avarice.

We've had some plans in from surveyors about party walls and the like. Unspeakably tedious - apart from much mention of the gloriously-named BUNGAROOSH! which is apparently a style of wall-building only found in Brighton and parts of Sussex.

So I would like to nominate BUNGAROOSH! as Word Of The Day. And possibly Best Word Ever.

I wonder if there are any buildings in Brighton with Bungaroosh walls and a pebble-dash render. I wouldn't want one of those!!

I think you're right Dover. The surveyor bod came round yesterday and said that although BUNGAROOSH! walls were originally cobbled together by Victorian and Georgian builders as a cheapo way of using up all the bits of brick and the like when they'd finished building a house, the council is keen to preserve BUNGAROOSH! style walls. So the developer's got to make good any damage he does to it. Mind you, as well as being listed it's also listING, so it may well fall down of it's own accord...
