Would agree re: The Ram but The Griffin sadly not quality recently. Last 3 meals there have been poor, cold, wrong or tough. Fallen behind The Coach and Horses at Chelwood Gate, The Crown in Horsted Keynes and The Peacock at Piltdown IMO. A pub that rested on its laurels.

Avoid the Uckfield line unless you really enjoy a gamble. When it runs well it is good as it is much cheaper than other lines. When it doesn't it is terrible. For a novice, I would reccomend T Wells option!

Had a second good meal of the year at The Blackboys Inn, Blackboys. Decent pub food done well without hammering the wallet. 3 well kept varities of Harveys. Well worth a visit if you are up that way but worth booking on a Sunday.
