Logically speaking UEFA have to throw Palace out of Europe. On March 1st Textor had too many shares in Palarse and Lyon , with Donner and Blitzen holding shares in Brondby as well. They are in the same exact position as Drogheda so CAS will come to the same conclusion when they appeal for forgiveness.

If all Palace shareholders have 25% (with Parish having a casting vote if needed) how does Textor voting with the 2 other blokes to overrule Parish not be 'having influence' in matters? It's all a bit lost on me.
No matter, to my mind the March 1st deadline seals the argument - Palace didn't meet it - end of discussion

Exactly, and he had the opportunity to rectify in plenty of time. Rules are rules; might be pernickety but CP Board were aware of the rule and did nothing or were not aware, and they have done nothing since winning FA Cup when it was obviously going to be an issue. Either way negligent. I can't see there is any way they can be allowed to compete given the Drogheda precedent.

Wait, so the suggestion is that because there could be a conflict of interest (or at least the appearance of one) if Palace and Lyon were to play each other in a competitive European fixture, the way to resolve it is... to play each other in a competitive European fixture?

I'm not sure this person has fully grasped the nature of the problem.

For me it's the fact that he's apparently a director at palace and the president at Lyon.

Rule 5.01b is that "No one may simultaneously be involved, either directly or indirectly, in any capacity whatsoever in the management, administration and/or sporting performance of more than one club participating in a UEFA club competition"

I fully expect UEFA to find a way to let palace be in the Europa league, but I don't see how you can claim to not be involved in the adminstration of a club "in any capacity whatsoever" when you are a director there

I don't expect Palace to get away with it due to that second criteria that you've quoted.

Whilst the third criteria has a caveat about 'influence' that one doesn't. To me it is cut & dried. I predict they're out. Banned.
