Anyone know the reasoning behind Hudson-Prentice being loaned to Derbyshire when it would have made more sense to send Danny Lamb up there to get some match practice?
F H-P was in decent nick with bat & ball
Agree. He did pretty well in t20 last season iirc, and was seen as a key player by Farbs.

In other news….great win today. Looking good.

Comprehensive win for Sussex. McAndrew (5-19) excellent with the ball; ripped the heart out of Glamorgan.

Good watch. Shame not more there. £35 for a T20 might be a bit strong?
Next match at home to Essex, who are bottom having lost all four. What could possibly go wrong.... ?

Looking aythat crowd, tou can see that T20 is not what it was. That's the problem with novelty - it's not novel for long!!
It’s not proper cricket I personally don’t bother with it, once you get into cricket you start to understand the value of length of time at the crease, the time it takes to set a batsman up, field positions, weather conditions, what type of ball is being used, there are many many things to consider in county / test and even 50 over cricket.

Once you get into these , watching T20 is flat and games can be over well before 8 to 10 overs of the second innings.

But then I am a old Fuddy duddy.

I have acute fuddy duddiness too. Although I accept T20 as a necessary cash cow for the game now. But only at county level. I couldn't tell you anything about the IPL for example. I've never sat and watched a whole game there.

As for The Hundred. I have seen even less of that and you will see from my eternal grumblings on the old thread here, which I have blocked from my sore eyes, loath it.

I refuse to watch the hundred nonsense on a matter of principle but will watch a bit of Sussex T20 and England - same with 50 over. I have watched a bit of IPL too but 4 day Sussex on YouTube and all Test matches are far superior

Regarding the crowd - we only went today because friends who are Blast Pass holders are on holiday. We paid £35 a ticket last Sunday though. It's £6.50 for a pint of Harvey's and although the food does look very nice, I noticed today a burger was £15. If you're going with kids who want merchandise on top of that it's all going to add up very quickly with your secondary spend. That's an expensive few hours if you're a family going there for example.

£35 is far too high. Compare this to Hampshire, taking a family of four (to watch Hampshire v Sussex natch) and its costing me £75, adult being £26.

Great result today.

I've been priced out of t20. Would love to go but £35 is far too much for someone who already pays out to see a lot of football.

Presumably should be a big crowd Friday?

£35 does seem expensive given there’s no guarantee of matches going the distance or even being a close result.

I suppose it’s cheaper than having a stag do in Prague

Exactly. Weather could be shit too. Game can easily be done early like today's...although at least Sussex fans saw a lot of runs and wickets.

I can see why crowds are down. Interesting to see if Friday sells out. You'd think it will?

There's lots of tickets still available currently.

Make it £25 and they make more money due to bigger attendance.
£20 and they sell out every game

That's my point. You used to need to buy tickets well ahead. Now the crowds look sparse. I don't think its any longer a cash cow.

I suppose the target audience is now a bunch of lads in their 30’s, having a skin full soaked up by an easy to eat burger. So £100 for a few hours of “tacky” cricket. At least the playing time in football gives the wallet a break!

Does the club really think that people can shell out this type of money a couple of times a week or does it feel that there’s an insatiable appetite in B&H??

I think last season the only group game that sold out was Surrey and although the home quarter final against Lancashire did, it didn't sell out as quickly as it would 10/15 years back. The time of year for the Blast now doesn't help either. A home quarter final on a early September evening isn't quite the same conditions as one in late July.

So what advertising have Sussex done for these games? I haven’t been into
Brighton for a while, are there posters advertising the games around? Are they on bus stops / train stations? Or do we just expect people to know there’s a game on by osmosis?

Surrey and Middlesex plaster local stations on the tube and NR with adverts for their Blast games.

I definitely enjoyed the match today but thought it was cold for watching cricket in June, i had plenty of clothes on too. Maybe the weather forecast put some fans off, i know it wasn’t supposed to rain today though.
