I somehow got home to Carlisle and woke up the next morning still in my shoes.I saw us play at the stadium of light in the early noughties. Zamora was sent off. We lost.
Edit: oh and I seem to recall @The Clown of Pevensey Bay was ver ver drunk.
I’ve been there twice. The other game was England v Turkey in a European qualifier the previous year.

I went to the SOL in 2004. It’s an identikit stadium, think Reading or Leicester, with red seats.

I got SOAKED. Not just a little - proper North Sea sideways rain with no roof on the small, terraced away end. We lost and their goal was a mile offside.Ditto on all counts.

Set my tinny drinking personal best on the way home though so not all was lost.
Ditto, I already got a few things booked for next year, if I make one of these three, I’ll probably settle for that.

Capacity of SoL : 49,000
Capacity of Reading : 24,000
That small terraced away end used to be twice as big but I think there was a safety issue and half of it had to be removed

The Sunderland fans were proper ****s after the game, spitting at, and attacking, the Albion following on the way back to the station.
Even if I don't make the away game, I'm going to the Rugby match against Australia at Everton's ground in November.
Which apart from ticking off a new ground will give me the opportunity to saunter past the "No Alcohol Beyond This Point" signs while holding 4 pints.

Nope 19th - 26th - She's a teacher so has to be half-term.
Possible it could be 3 matches I guess.
They will be plugging that into the fixtures database as we speak …..
