They have won a Cup which is very exciting, however I know which style of football I’d rather watch week in week out. Going toe to toe regardless of the opposition or sitting deep and relying on counter attack whilst having very little ball possession? Hmm let me think about that one

Apart from doing the double over us for the first time in 92 years. Apart from winning the biggest domestic cup competition in the world. Apart from getting into Europe for the first time ever. Apart from another trip to Wembley for the Charity Shield. Apart from an open top bus celebration on the next Bank Holiday.
....Apart from all of that....what the hell have they got to brag about?

It was one of the greatest days of my life. But we will struggle to keep players this summer and will either not have the depth next season or instead risk the squad culture trying to deepen it. So I'm worried.

We also have major ownership problems with JT causing issues which will prevent us investing what we need.

I hope we see a world where proper fans from clubs who don't have Middle Eastern money (or can no longer benefit from it anyway due to FFP rules that favour the already big clubs) get to see cup wins and I'd love to see Brighton Palace in Europe and in cup finals together with the likes of Manure and Spurs continuing to spiral.

Seems unlikely, but because I don't think we have the structure to be further up the table whereas at the moment you guys do.

I want to throw an abusive put down at you, but I can’t as that is one of the best posts that I have seen on here from a Palace fan.

There are far more similarities between our clubs than any of us like to admit, but I still hope you end up bottom of your Europa pool, have your best players poached and struggle to compete well in the PL and the Europa League.

They've won a major trophy and comfortably beat us in both Derby games.

On which basis, I doubt any Palace fan gives a flying f**k about us finishing above them.
Could not have worded this any more succinctly. Would absolutely love love love us to win the FA Cup one day.
(hopefully with a brilliant display of champagne football and not a VAR cup).

It’s a funny thing, as a man of vintage, I would have taken relegation to win the FA cup, having seen palace in 3 divisions it didn’t make me support them less. But to win the FA cup or even the League cup was a dream.

Whether we are 12 or 8th would be forgotten by next season but when I go and watch the first primarily round of the FA cup in August the goal of every football club is to get as far as possible and to reach the final and win is just unbelievable. ( whether the big 4 teams have the same feeling who knows )

Let's be completely honest here. Finishing above them in the table means absolutely nothing when they've got their hands on the oldest cup competition trophy in the world. If the roles were reversed, we'd be creasing ourselves with laughter if they were were trying to claim finishing above us in the table meant anything at all.

I'm INSANELY jealous of what they did.

Given the trajectory that Brighton are on winning the FA Cup would in no way compensate the feeling on being relegated from the PL if it happened

Anyway, sadly you weren’t relegated as well :lolol:

What i find interesting is when Newcastle won the League Cup (imho less impressive a cup) it was across the media for at least a week after, i’ve hardly seen (thankfully) the same with Oalace winning the FA Cup??

I know you know this, but sports media is produced for the largest possible market, which are naturally fans of the biggest clubs generally, or those who want to laugh at their rival’s demise. Hence that cretin Ornstein’s daily “X club/coach/star player in CRISIS!!!!11!!!eleven”.

Palace winning the cup isn’t going to get that many clicks compared to a giant like Newcastle, so they don’t bother

West is BEST
Not keen on the team.
Can take or leave most of their fans.
Don’t really care that they won the cup.
Don’t really care about much that they do.
2nd rate team from a horrible area who got a good season in.
Give a f*** .

So many clubs will take inspiration from Palace's cup win and European qualification. Even if you are having a bang average season, all you need is 3 lower league cup opponents and then 3 top flight teams not putting a shift in and away you go, book an open top bus and check your passport is not about to expire.

As well as your best five or six (and only) good players completely free of injury and suspension for all these matches. Their good fortune will not be matched for sometime. They did take their chance though in fairness (he says through gritted teeth and partial tears).

Can’t deny they are a bigger club than us . It’s always been tight . Them shading it with top flight seasons possibly. This win along with a couple of finals does make them bigger conclusively imo .

Bigger not classier !

Yes. Simon Jordan mentioned it yesterday. The week of media love in for Newcastle was ott whereas Palace got a few mentions but no wall to wall coverage yet, they won the bigger competition!
Palace will have the new "have you ever seen Brighton win the cup"chant ready when we meet next season 😀

Correct.

It's almost as feeble as seeing your rivals take 4 points off you over the season and marching through Europe at some of the biggest away days imaginable. And then when they are on the beach, display that you've finished one place above them on the jumbotron.

On that basis, I won't be celebrating finishing above them. They've had their day in the sun. Let's hope next season the fixture pile-up turns them into Spurs except that they finish one place lower.
Bumley.
Turns them into Bumley.
Relegated by a European over-stretch.
Lovely stuff.
