I find it heartwarming that Palace are aiming to beat their record Premier League points tally of 49points. We have already exceeded that 3 times since being a Premier League side.
I love that some people have read the thread title of 'reasons to be cheerful' and thought 'nope, not having that. I need to tell them once again how unhappy I am'.

Most foreign young players do not have their best season when they arrive. In fact a lot of them who go onto having stellar careers actually struggle. Before he had joined us Hürzeler had never coached in a division higher than the German second tier and I think he shows signs of benefiting from such a sharp learning curve. It may have been at home but yesterday’s resilient performance was miles away from those Stamford Bridge and the City Ground.
Also we have long known we can go on the attack against the very best (with the first half at Anfield being just one of the stand out examples). Okay, the criticism we have seldom put two good halves together is valid but we’re a very young team (second youngest squad in the division as well as only having the sixth lowest wage bill) and had the worst injuries. If we avoid losing too many of our core players we have every reason to be cheerful about next season.

Love this time of year for gardens, flowers, bees, gardening, seeing the fruits of one’s planning.

…Give me a season when a key player didn’t retire or move on? Each season can only be judged on its own merits. The inconsistency and unpredictability of players performances is what makes the game exciting in many respects. No guarantees. Except we’ll all be wrong in our forecasts

I feel like a few people are forgetting how badly we ended last season. De Zerbi brought us some of the most fun times ever, but the last three months or so were dismal.
We were so bad by that stage of the season, we lost at home to Manchester United. Let that sink in.
