According to the stats, he had 3 aerial duels and won 2 of them.
Cashin more willing to be an understudy perhaps?
The warning signs were then when some Derby fans described the transfer fee as a “fair price”.

Yes, you need some genuine speed machines on the pitch to cover the breakaways. We look far less susceptible when Baleba and Minteh play.

This. Mind boggling signing from one appearance. And yes it's one game but it's clear that he doesn't have the attributes needed. He is slow for a PL defender and not strong in the air (not that tall). These are two far more important attributes than being able to pass the ball which our FOUR current CB's can all do.

I am not going to jump on any hate bandwagon, I will reserve judgement until he has a few games under his belt, it is difficult enough becoming part of a solid defence for even Dunk and Webster.
I hope he proves all the negative doubting grumpy folk wrong

I don't have an opinion whatsoever of Cashin, as I need at least a few games to formulate an opinion?
Debuts are weird and are frequently not a sign of things to come, especially as a substitute.
My gut feeling is that he'll be a decent player, purely because our club rarely signs players that are shite?

As others have said, the thing we're CRYING out for is pace at CB. Cashin does not seem to be that.
Don't need much pace if you read the game well. The brilliant 2 meter ball-playing CB who will catch Elanga in a sprint doesn't exist and to the extent it does, that player will be the leading player in the title winning team.
Not saying pace isn't useful but won't be a massive priority when signing a CB. Anytime someone posts a graphic of Mickey van der Ven being one of the fastest sprinters in the league, I think "ok, and how much is that helping Tottenham compared to if they had a central defender that can read the game?"

Some were just plain abusive and apart from anything else show a scary lack of awareness of effects such comments can have.

1) This is NSC, where opinions – whether they are valid or not – run wild
2) The guy came on and was at fault for one of the goals
3) We lost the game, which means people need an escape goat – and Cashin was the easiest of easy targets
4) Football fans in general have a habit of writing a new player off very quickly, especially taking into account 2) and 3)
5) It's very difficult for some people to look objectively at situations
6) He wasn't a 'glamour' signing.
I could go on...

Yes, Wieffer can play CB. But if there's one opponent guaranteed to get Dunky through 90 minutes on adrenaline alone, it's this one.

Cashin is a decent Championship player but in my opinion he is not Premier League standard at present, but has the potential to be.
What you have got is a player that will always give you 100% every game and does not shy away from a challenge.
Not the quickest player in the World, but if he has other pacey players around him he will be Ok. Most Derby fans were sorry to see him go but for what you paid for him it was a good deal for the Rams. We have not really missed him and have replaced him with an upgrade.
I hope he does well for you.
