I always assumed that although we are data-based in our transfer dealings that there was a human element as well, validating what the data was telling us. As it should be. But even if we were entirely relying on the data and optics and what-not, surely some of the data that was collected would include details of the player's speed, to the nth. degree of MPH.The scouts said he was poor and couldn’t handle the pace of the premier league, the data said he was in the top of his optics in the championship. Maybe it’s time to stop playing moneyball and listen to some people who’ve played the game.
