I quite liked Piercy. Very good technique, and probably ahead of most of our players in that respect. Just never seemed to be able to get a good run of games behind him and because we required a team full of grafters at the time, we couldn't really accommodate someone who was never fit

Denis Bergkamp and Virgil Van Dyke came from the Netherlands too. although not us us unfortunately, (although the latter nearly did).

My point is that the Netherlands produces some fantastic talent, may of them succeeding in the Premier League. Why is it we only seem to get the dross?
Our scouts always stop for “a coffee” before going to watch the game.

Notes like “and when he strikes the ball it leaves a rainbow trail behind it” should have set alarm bells ringing.

I think that historically, we've signed dross from many, many nations (especially under David Burke) in part because we weren't very good. Now that we're a better team, have better scouts and the best data analytics systems in world football we can get better players.

Besides, our record with Dutch players of late has been pretty decent with JP, Veltman, Verbruggen, and even Scherpen

That was injury wasn't it. I don't really get this "didn't work out" thing. Why didn't it? Player couldn't
be arsed to try? Club made it difficult for him? What?
I read an interview with him a while back - actually, could have been his comments on Twitter - where he placed the blame squarely on the club doctors. No idea if that's sour grapes, but still.

There was a fairly serious allegation towards the club doctor at the time for carrying out a ‘procedure’ on him which probably shouldn’t have been

Not really surprising that Stuttgart aren’t buying him. He made 13 appearances for them but most were under 20 minutes in length.

Still think a move to a Saudi club is the most likely for him.

Let him go on a free to anyone who he can agree terms with. No point him hanging around.
