I seem to remember last season, when Hodgson came in and they won 3-4 games there was a fair few of them predicting a run for Europe this season. That didn’t turn out too well for them.

Hopefully a repeat performance next season but with a relegation thrown in for good measure.

Have to confess that their new manager is currently doing very well after a slow start. They couldn’t end up above him us could they.

They will finish above us. We won't win another game.

No they won't but it'll be much closer than it looked at the turn of the year.

£60m for Eze seems like a steal if Cucurella is the measure!

Fancy a charity bet on that? £1, £10, or £100 to a charity of my choice when we finish above you, and for your charity if the unlikely were to happen?
Sorry Tim , I don’t bet. But if I did I might have took you up on that and for this season as well 😉👍

The new manager is doing well, as many new managers do ( remember the expansive football from Vieira?).
De Zerbi is also a good example.

Once the rest of the league grow accustomed to the tactics, they soon learn to nullify your threat.

Palace's main advantage over us, is that their owner will pay the wages needed to keep his top players.
He has to.
I think Eze will be happy to stay there for a new contract every season.
Olise might well be off though.

Good post, although I hope the 5, just 5 point gap will be enough ..... B'Muff away next, then Villa, I think! Obvs Newcastle away isn't easy and then Chelsea, finishing off with Man Ure!

Sussex but not by the sea
Palace were missing Eze & Olise for most of this season. No coincidence that they have picked up since they are both back AND they have a new manager who isn't obsessed with a low block.
Their biggest challenge is going to be next season when they WILL lose at least one of them. If they don't get the replacement rifght then they will be back to the early this season situation. Wharton is looking like an annoyingly good buy, even more annoying that is exactly the type of player we need.

I still maintain that our club f***ed up last summer. The recruitment wasn't good enough, especially as we had Europe to offer and internally the club must have had a good idea on the likely 22/23 profits. Dare I say we didn't show enough ambition in that window?

... although would we be saying that if we hadn't had an injury list that was crazily bad. If we'd had Mitoma bemoaning his lack of game time because we spunked £40m on a midfielder, and unsettling the squad along with say March, Gilmour et al?

The knock-on effect - Ashworth from BHA to NUFC to Man U resulting in Dougie from Palace to NUFC... (just debated on TS)

Eze is a brilliant player who I would love to see at the Albion. We have the money but I don't think he will come here (wages ?) even if we splashed out ,which we never seem to do.

rarely does it against the big teams though.
It will be interesting to see how Glasner brings him on.

As I said and hope to be proved wrong a bit of a flat track bully, and unfortunately sounds like his injured for todays game. That is a big issue going forward for any prospective buyers.

Olise and Guehi are almost certainly off at the end of the season. That’s why Palace took out a short term loan, to get players in in January knowing that they’d sell those two. Not sure how much they’ll have left over for replacements.
They are in the perfect storm of a new manager and having players they won’t for next season. Other teams will soon start researching Glasner’s tactics and counter them, as has been the case with RDZ.

finally we’ve reached the magical 40 point mark, which is always my aim for every season.
we can now lookup and see who we can catch and who we can’t .

Glasnar has never had a fit Guehi so he has never been in one of his teams, he has been picking Richard’s and he has slotting in there with aplomb. Olise would be a £60m gamble and really needs full season as the last 2 have been very stop start.
