Ali MAc left on good terms for a better job, doing well so far, but no better. I'm sure he will

Caicedo. I've lost count of the amount of stitches I've had, every single fuckwit box ticked . . . He's clearly low density between the ears, everryone's sold him some snake oil. . . . At least he's fed his family. Good luck to him, he needs it.

To be honest, I am surprised that both of them haven’t done better. I thought it might be a bit of a learning curve to start with but whilst Mac is doing ok, Caicedo hasn’t got up to speed at Chelsea at all so far.

I don't know who at the club would be the one players and their agents go and talk to when they're demanding a move away, but whoever that is should have a big framed picture of Moises Caicedo hanging above their desk in the eye-line of all those players who are demanding moves out of the club as a reminder of what happens when you leave
Wouldn't be surprised if the footballing part of him isn't now wishing he was part of an exciting, progressive Liverpool team that will win quite a few trophies in the next few years.
Still, his mum's got to live in London, and I'm sure some snake of an agent persuaded them both that Liverpool is a dangerous urban jungle full of violent criminal dru gangs (as if London isn't - or South America for that matter!) and I'm sure his ten starving little siblings have all got nice cars by now!

Don't know, don't care. Naive of the club tho to think they could just take the money and trust in the algorithm to replace like for like with no loss of momentum
Where did the club say they could replace both like for like with no loss of momentum?

Salah could go from Liverpool at the end of the season and Liverpool won't be able to replace like for like. KDB or Haaland could leave City and not get replaced like for like. The club can't control players leaving but we know there is an awful amount of succession planning for everything. Most of the best players that we acquire will move on, it's our business model. The overall aim is not to risk the sustainability of the club. If that means a little wobble, sobeit.

Adingra and Mitoma should be back after the Spurs game if not before. Barco will be joining soon as well. We've got Fati and Enciso to return.

(Reports said) the agent secretly made contact and did a deal with Chelsea straight after Arteta failed to get Caicedo, exactly a year ago. He got a vast fee from doing that. In the previous year for example, ManC directly paid agents £51m and Chelsea £43m to buy an advantage in signing players.

I’d love FIFA to outlaw club to agent payments.

All of this is true, but so is what THPP said. The fact is, the club were offered an eye watering sum for Caicedo and so they took it. Obviously there is an acceptance that it makes us weaker, but in some ways they've been vindicated. What if we had decided to keep him for another year and Caicedo had been in this shit form for us? His transfer value would have had about £60m wiped from it!

We just have to accept that the decision was a no brainer but has a down side.

Yes. Players' agents should be paid .............................. by the players. The agent is working for the player - should be paid by the person who has engaged him and is benefitting from his untiring labour.

I’m sure that was once only the way?

Funny how the football industry finds every conceivable way to exploit positions.

This is an interesting thought as lots of us myself included have the position that had MC stayed we'd have been much stronger this season and we still could have sold him down the line for a similar sort of sum. If he'd stayed and gone through a awful patch we'd not have got the same deal would we?

Clearly not just MacAllister’s impact, but Liverpool are a lot stronger this year than last year.

Just a great player…..

Caicedo - meh!
Will probably play well against us, but overall not justifying the fee.

I’ve watched Mac Allister a few times for Liverpool. I genuinely believe that he has gone up a bit in terms of performance. He has just added more bite, aggression, interceptions and key tackles to the deep lying playmaker role he learnt at our club.

I’m really pleased for him.

I’ve tried to avoid watching Caicedo as I really liked him as an Albion player but his departure was messy and awkward and we’ve still not properly replaced him. At this rate, we’re going to have to wait for Baleba to mature which could take a few years…..2027 perhaps.

The little bits of Caicedo I’ve seen demonstrate how absurd his move was from a footballing perspective. He still had so much to learn here. The club knew that also. Straight into the Chelsea meat grinder. At this rate, we could get him back on a free in 2027 when Chelsea finally cancel his contract and pay him off. They have two other young defensive midfielders who’ll make sure he plays very little first team football. He has been crushed by his greedy entourage and by Chelsea.

Mac was always the better player and was always going to thrive but I am surprised by Caicedo, he seems lost on the pitch.

Macallisters doing great isn't he at Liverpool?

Which surely must be the least surprising thing ever considering his last season and a half with us. A tremendous player and character and someone who will keep learning. Good luck to him. I've gone from not being bothered one way or the other to hoping they win the league. Its all credit in the bank for young South American players thinking of coming to us.

Caicedo just presents like an absolute div. I suspect he'll come good at some point because he's got bags of talent but he was absolutely trained and explained within an inch of his life by Potter and De Zerbi and just don't think you can translate that to the Chelsea mess.

In the worst case scenario, he also has some of the thicko traits that suggest someone who might just get ruined by quick money amd fame. Which would be a real shame for such talent.

Caicedo is still a very young man. He will end up being very very good. Alexis is mature and has filled the obvious hole in the middle of the Liverpool midfield. S

Moises seems to be suffering a bit of Maguire syndrome. He's not been that bad when you watch the games. He's been in a dogshit Chelsea team and finding his feet. But the expectations, stat nerds and long-distance fans on twitter seem to have really piled on him.

Ali Mac will thrive IMO.

Mac’s done very well considering he’s been played as a 6 for a lot of games.

Caicedo, despite being incredibly talented, has unsurprisingly struggled at that hot mess of a club. He’ll come good though, he’s just too talented not to.

If we sell Mitoma & Pedro in the summer we are bang in trouble, clubs will reset and the big money will flow again. Those two will be near on impossible to replace and they won’t be able to resist another £100m +

Bit harsh to call him a div. He's a young man who probably has been badly advised. He comes from a poor background and is no doubt looking out for his family and by moving to Chelsea, he's more than doubled his income. Also, he's witnessed a fellow pro, Mwepu, lose his livelihood in the blink of an eye. He was great for us but I doubt anyone would have predicted it being quite so bad at Chelsea. I doubt there are very many of us who, in his shoes, wouldn't have done the same thing.

I think most of us would have chosen Liverpool over Chelsea last summer. The wages can't be that much different and you get to play for Klopp in a team that is settled and challenging at the very top. Dumb decision.
